Most Recent Posts Google and Duplicate ContentPosted Sep-17-08 02:33:33 PDT This week Google posted an interesting article about their so called duplicate content penalty and discussed its implications for webmasters and in particular, affiliates. As an affiliate I have seen some pretty shocking attempts at sites over the years that definitely fall into Google’s “Cookie Cutter” description. It is such a shame lazy affiliate’s rip of their hard working brethren, if it wasn’t the case Google would not have such a bee in its bonnet about affiliate sites but as it stands we all have to face Google’s wrath. The great news for us hard working affiliates is that the duplicate content penalty should not interfere with our work. Since the original site will be much stronger and full of great unique content only the content stealer will be punished. Google were also keen to emphasise that being dropped out of the SERPs because of a filter and not a penalty meaning that your whole site will not suffer even if you are mistakenly picked up for duplicate content.
