Most Recent Posts Learned my first lessonPosted Jul-20-08 11:44:45 PDT I have already established my newness, and am appreciative of the pointers. I can tell I need lots of polishing but still hope to be a diamond in the rough. Posted some coins last week and was unsure of the dates, so I asked for some assistance. Had the dates confirmed but was surprised to find that I may be overpriced and my shipping is deffinately more than it should be. Naive as I may be I did let ebay calculate shipping for me, but I also did a couple weeks worth of "research" to see what comparable items were listing for before I set my price. Lesson learned about the postage, but the next delima is How do you know if you are overpriced, or if it is simply a case of no one being interested in the items I am selling? Maybe I should wait a few more days and drop the price? Or should I let auction close and relist for a lower ammount.........or could just stick to my guns and leave things as they may be? I don't believe I am hosting an "online yard-sale" so to speak, there is some value in the things I am listing, so how do I determine value???? There is always a startPosted Jul-19-08 19:53:52 PDT So here goes. I'm not a real blogger, as long as we are at it, I'm not a real ebayer either!!!! Decided I would give it a shot because I like many others have heard all the success stories of stay at home mom's turning yard sale finds into cash, cleaning out the closets for a few extra bucks and on and on. I decided I would give it a shot and here I am. Did my first sale last week and went better than I expected, sold 2 out of 6 items. So this week I got really excited did more of what I call "market research" to see what is selling and what I may "need to rid the home of" to continue in my new "job". The kids started joining in and decided to help out a bit. Now for the DELIMA......my daughter wants me to sell everything in her room, middle son wants to sell nothing and the oldest cleaned out his backpack and asked me to post all of his homework from last year just to "see what it will go for". He does make good grades, but I doubt his homework will get any bids. I decided to put the kids stuff on hold and continue with my valuables for a while. Now my request for some help, obviously I am new to this and would love some feedback from my ebay elders.........am still learning and hoping to continue. I believe I need some format tips. Such as should we stick to one area of sales say clothes or collectables? Do you have more success selling lots vs. individual items? Besides savvy wording are there any tricks to getting buyers to choose you over someone with the same or similar item? Any feedback will be appreciated seeing that I am living in the recession that Mr Bush continues spouting doesn't exist; and I am seriously doing all this just 2afordthegas |
