Most Recent Posts Expenses and Profits so farPosted Jul-21-08 00:34:18 PDT One of my favorite parts of my new eBay business so far has been receiving an order and tallying that order into my excel spreadsheet and see my total profit per item get ever closer to my break-even point for the month. Here are my expenses for July: $15.95 EBay stores fee $29.99 Dropshipper membership fee $28.03 Ebay store listing fees $1.49 Domain Name $14.77 Auction & Fixed price listing fees =$90.15 JULY TOTAL EXPENSES I've sold 20 items so far this month with a gross profit (I think that's the right term) of $84.13. Only $6.02 more until I'm in the black! Sweet, I might actually make some money this month! I barely ended up in the black last month by $7.72 Here's what my net profits (again, I'm not sure if that's the right term) have been so far: June 08 $7.72 May 08 $50.32 April 08 -$54.78 So as you can see I haven't really started making any money yet, but I hope that this will change. And if it doesn't right away, I need to figure out why and change things. I see this as a great and relatively inexpensive way to learn how to run your own business, and may make great training for my future! Ok, but I need to figure out how to actually make money from this though.... My First Returned Item =(Posted Jul-21-08 00:14:44 PDT Man, it's been a banner week. I've managed to get my first negative feedback and my first return in the same week. It is so difficult to try to control things you don't have control over. I am such a perfectionist in real life that not actually being able to control the items that my customers receive is pretty frustrating. This particular customer wanted a wide variety of colors, and received a bunch of colors that he had no use for and alot of the product he received didn't match the description of the product that I use and is given to me from the supplier. I guess I have to find a way to combat what is looking to be the biggest difficulty in my new little eBay adventure: How can I maintain a high feedback percentage? My First Negative Feedback =(Posted Jul-21-08 00:08:24 PDT Well, I got my first negative feedback today and I guess I'm pretty bummed about it. The thing is, I really don't think I could have done anything about it. When I ordered the product I specified through my supplier that I wanted a certain color, but the supplier sent the wrong color. Another thing though is I actually foresaw this happening, but I was afraid to call the supplier directly to make sure they were sending the right color. And the dropshipper I use has terrible customer service (like I was accidentally sent an internal email once), so they didn't even bother to try to send the note with the order I don't think. I was sent an email saying they couldn't cancel the order (I wasn't trying to cancel) because the order had already been processed (I sent the note specifying the color the same day as the order itself). So anyway, I'm a little frustrated. But I guess it happens to most people. It still stinks! =) On the plus side I do have a score of 40. Woohoo! But I have like 15 people who haven't given feedback yet? Would it be weird of me to send an email to these people? Maybe use it as another shot to ask if there was anything they were unhappy with to try to minimize negative feedback? Hmmm... New TemplatePosted Jul-10-08 12:14:08 PDT Wow! Thanks guys! I didn't even know eBay blogs existed until yesterday, didn't know templates existed before last night, and it makes me wonder...what else is out there that I haven't discovered yet. So cool! OK, first lesson blogged...Posted Jul-09-08 23:53:07 PDT Don't use italics in your blog entries because when they show up on the "My World" page (I almost did it again!), then the word will show with that weird "nbsp" thing that says "sorry, can't really do that right now."
