Most Recent Posts Glimpse of the elusive NapoleonPosted Dec-17-07 07:40:56 PST ......as I continue my journey to find the origin of the Napoleon pieces that I have, my search has gone to Texas ! I have found a site that has an extrordinay library of some of the porcelain marks in the world, with the help of Sharon at Fine European Antiques www.efineantiques.com she was able to recognize the mark from a German Company,Rudolf Kammer of Volkstedt, Thuringia, Germany. Sharon gave the lead information for me to research this manufacturer of this fine piece. My search for Rudolf Kammer came up with sites for Dresden Pugs and really nothing could be found on the company and its type of products outside of the cute little pug. So not to be outdone I tired a different route. During one of my searches I saw a link for "Rudolf Kämmer Porzellanmanufaktur" to which I searched using the german spelling of Porcelain Manufacturer. Bingo! We had a winner, the site that came up was www.porzellankaemmer.de this is a german site with English translation so I did my best to search through the English with German added words (Figuren-Historische Figuren-Soldatenfiguren) to find the item listed on page 6. I now feel like I have just solved the Da Vinci Code, the Holy Grail and cured some incurable disease. If you get a chance you should read the history and the story of this german manufacturer. This company is amazing in the quality of the work and the detail that is given to its pieces. Now that I have this information with the help of some friends, I now look forward to solving the othe Napoleon mysteries that lay in the boxes of bubble wrap and corrugated.
Searching for NapoleonPosted Nov-18-07 14:07:03 PST Updated Nov-28-07 16:25:11 PST I have been trying to find true market value for the Napoleon items that were given to me and while doing a google search all I could find was everything but what I had. It's amazing that a person who is and was as famous at Napoleon Bonaparte that this isn't an easy task. I have several Bronze sculptures , one is a bust and the other looks to be of Napoleon sitting on Battlefield with a cannon around him. One of the most amazing pieces that I have is a porcelian statue that has an attached sword with removeable scabbard. This looks to be from Capodimonte and approxiametly 16 inches tall. There really must be some way that I can find the TRUE MARKET VALUE. Until then I will still be searching for Napoleon. As time goes on I have found a Bronze Napoleon bust but still not close to what I have. It seems that there isn't any indetification or markings. Its funny how I have come across all of the different collections such as Hummels, Delft and Royal Copenhagen, but something that has such historical siignificance as Napoleon Bonaparte there is very little.
