Most Recent Posts Feedback - give and takePosted Feb-12-08 03:51:06 PST Updated Feb-12-08 03:53:34 PST Hi again. I know feedback isn't compulsory, but it would be nice when you took the time to write a feedback for someone if they would return the favour. I ALWAYS leave feedback and as you may already know I got one neg feedback (retaliatory) for being honest and saying I received a pirate copy (How dare i! lol) Anyway, I have bought loads more items since then, which hopefully should have started undoing the damage of this neg rating (it took 10% off my overall score). If I had received feedback from half the people i've bought from my score would be a lot higher by now. I dunno, I just think it's basic manners to return a feedback (whatever they want to say good or bad, obviously.) It makes me think...why should I say all these nice things about people and bump up their score if they don't even bother to return a feedback? Anyway I just wondered what other people thought about this. I also agree with someone who commented on one of my other blogs that it would be better if eBay changed it so that the seller writes the feedback first, so that the buyer feels they can be completely honest about the transaction without fear of a retaliatory feedback. To all the people who did leave me feedback, thankyou it is very much appreciated. HACKED!Posted Feb-09-08 16:16:55 PST Hi there. Tonight when I tried to get into my eBay account it wouldn't accept my password and said it was wrong. It wasn't wrong so I knew something was up. I clicked on "forgot my password" and went through the various stages to reset my password but it would never take me to the actual page for choosing a new one. I panicked a little as I then received an email (claiming to be from eBay) saying that a third party had compromised my account and used it to send emails in my name. Well as you can imagine I was worried. I decided to make a new account and post a comment in my own blog hoping people would read it. I also changed my email password and eventually I got to the correct page to make a new password. I think it possibly happened when I was in the middle of looking at a listed item and it said I had to log in again. Possibly a phishing scam. I just wanted to warn other eBayers that this is going on, and I have also reported it to eBay. Please let me know if anything similar has happened to you, thanks. UpdatePosted Jan-22-08 02:33:17 PST Updated Feb-09-08 16:45:40 PST I'm still trying to resolve this and am in contact with several departments about this. (I really wish Ebay had a phone!) Regarding feedback they said that removing "retaliatory feedback" is not possible and takes the whole "freedom of speech" thing away. I agree with this, but it has flaws as the system can be abused and people can write "revenge " feedbacks even if you've done nothing wrong. So. Should I continue to be honest? Or should I lie just to prevent myself from receiving a negative feedback? Let me know what you think, thanks. I was being honest in what I wrote, not to make myself feel any better, but because it was the right thing to do, and other potential buyers could benefit from my honesty I did wait almost two weeks before I felt the right thing to do in this case was be honest, so I left the negative rating. The other person did what they had threatened to do in the messages they sent me, and wrote a completely untrue NEG about me. (I did make contact with him and he knows that) So basically, people can write what they want about someone (even if it's not true). I must admit this has put me off using Ebay big-time. Ebay tell people to be honest if they have a negative experience, yet people are being blackmailed into removing negative ratings, or just don't want to rock the boat by leaving a NEG. To me, this makes the feedback system null and void as it doesn't reflect the entire truth. I would also like to add that I've never had any problems with any other sellers and they have all been a pleasure to buy from. Thanks for reading. **In reply to the 2nd comment below I meant the truth of how people really feel, not the actual black and white truth. I feel that people are in some cases too scared to leave a neg in case of retaliation, which is totally their choice and I respect that. **Lol. Sorry about this. In reply to the 4th comment I did all of those things, I contacted the seller quite a few times and we talked, but nothing could be resolved and proper procedure was (and still is) being followed. All the other routes were taken before I decided to leave the feedback. At the end of the day my honesty will hopefully help other buyers. UPDATE: I've noticed by reading the persons feedback that a few more people are catching on to the persons activities so hopefully eBay will take action as what this person is doing is totally against eBay policy. They have also mysteriously stopped selling.
About my 1 negative feedback rating.Posted Jan-18-08 02:11:04 PST Updated Feb-09-08 18:02:23 PST Hi there. A member sold me a very obvious bootleg/pirate dvd , but I didn't send my money back I kept the disc as I wasn't willing to pay more and risk not getting a refund (as he was obviously dishonest). I noticed quite a few others who had bought from him had said they received pirate dvds aswell, but they had mysteriously removed the rating part. I assumed maybe he had offered to send a refund FIRST and that they had mutually agreed to remove it as both were happy. Then I received a blackmail message basically saying if I didn't remove the rating he would leave me a negative feedback. I thought "what can he say I've done absolutely nothing wrong?" Well you can read for yourself the feedback which is purely a "revenge" feedback, as the matter is now under investigation. Please know that I have bought quite a few dvds from people and I am always honest with feedback for other buyers sake. In this case I wouldn't be intimidated into removing the rating. Also, it's the only negative thing i've EVER written about a transaction. I seem to be being punished just for being honest. All my other sellers have been brilliant, no problems. I have messaged customer support to see what they can do as I really feel this is unfair. It also brings my perfect score of 100% down to 90% as I am newish and only had 7 feedbacks before that. (I still don't get how ONE rating could take 10% off my overall score it says that each rating adds or takes away one point) Thanks for reading. |
