Are you getting the Most out of PayPal?

Just a quick two cents on extras we might not be utilizing as PayPal sellers: To get the most out of PayPal, sellers can take advantage of their auction tools and promotional offers. The PayPal ATM/debit card, for example, rewards you with 1.5 percent cash back on purchases, gives you instant access to PayPal funds from your sales, and lets you withdraw cash from your PayPal account at ATMs. Even if you do not cash in on these promotional offers, your standard PayPal account allows you to use accumulated funds almost any way you wish. Basically, the money you earn on eBay can be stored, as it would in a bank, in your PayPal account. You can transfer the funds to your checking account or use them online to make purchases or to pay bills. Want to extend credit to your customers? You can, with the PayPal Buyer Credit program, which is made possible through an agreement with GE Consumer Finance. The program lets U.S. sellers the ability to offer deferred interest to buyers for up to 3, 6, or 12 months on purchases over $199. Referrals are another way to leverage your PayPal membership. The Merchant Referral Bonus program rewards you for bringing new businesses to PayPal. As an existing PayPal user, you can collect up to $1,000 for each new merchant you refer. PayPal offers many ways for sellers to enhance their eBay businesses, most of which are free. The PayPal Shopping Cart allows your customers to browse your entire selection and purchase multiple items with a single payment. You can even sell gift certificates, solicit online donations, and accept multiple currencies. PayPal can even help you streamline your administrative processes. From calculating tax and postage or running inventory and sales reports, PayPal can take some of that burden off of you by automating these procedures. PayPal provides useful how-to articles so you can stay up to date on trends, read about new features, and learn from the insight of other PayPal merchants.

Women-Owned SMB's Rock!

I am so glad to be able to say I am a business owner!

Women-Owned SMBs Outperform Economy

In the past 10 years, women entrepreneurs have outperformed the economy as a whole, according to a new report.

The Center for Women's Business Research released the report, its biennial update for women-owned businesses. Between 1997 and 2006, it says, sales at women-owned firms rose 4.4 percent and employment increased by 0.4 percent. That compares with declines of 1 percent and 1.2 percent, respectively, for the economy as a whole.

Meanwhile, women-owned firms grew at nearly twice the rate of all firms, rising 42 percent compared to 23 percent.

The report also ranked the best states for women-owned firms based on sales, number of firms, and employees. They are California, New York, Texas, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Michigan, and Georgia.

What Sets You Apart From The Rest?

Have you ever thought about that? With all the items that can be purchased on eBay and many of them the same as someone else's, what can set ME apart from the rest? I was considering this and thought of putting it into my blog in case it might help someone else also. If we look at the outside retail world, retailers are constantly re-inventing themselves to stand out from the rest. Some have one-day sales during the middle of the week, some present their merchandise just a little differently and some go to the extent of offering "no sales tax" days! How can we translate this into things for e-tailers (ecommerce and retailer) to do for our businessess? I, for one have a few ideas and if you have any feel free to post them. I might want to have a one-day blowout sale too, maybe offer FREE shipping or a free item with every purchase. How about just changing our descriptions to entice buyers to choose our item over another because it just sounds better, including lots of details and tips on displaying or using the item. I imagine there could be some exciting, unique things that could be done if we cross-promote, maybe giveaway a small gift to buyers that purchase a cross-promoted item; this way they get the original item from your cross-promote buddy and also a little something from you! Don't forget to include a newsletter with your packing slip in the box and any other little unique touches that will let your buyer know they buy from someone that cares about their business and their customer. Those are my two cents and now I need to take my own advice and start "setting myself apart from the rest"! Until next time, "love what you do"

What does b.e.g jewelry stand for?

If you have visited my store you may wonder, "What does b.e.g stand for"?

I chose this acronym for the jewelry facet of my business in honor of my 3 daughters whom I hope will carry on the entrepreneurial spirit for many years to come!  It stands for Brown Eyed Girls jewelry.

I initially started handcrafting jewelry as a way to bond with my quickly growing daughters and then it evolved into a passion and learning experience in starting and running a business.  My two older teenage daughters have designed and handcrafted beautiful designs.  I have shared with them lessons in purchasing, pricing and profit margins.  I hope that they learn the lesson of loving what you do and pricing from the heart, not pricing to be a billionaire!  We want everyone who purchases jewelry from us to really enjoy their one-of-a kind pieces and know that we genuinely love doing what we do!

New jewelry pieces are available in my store or we also do custom orders.

Other gently used items have just been added to our store, please check it out!

Until next time, "love what you do"
