Most Recent Posts Sorry it's been so longPosted Dec-02-07 13:24:31 PST since I last wrote - usual excuse, too much to do in too little time! This last week has gone by in a blur as my husband has been away in America for the week and I've been left with the 2 children. Chloe turned 5 last week which seems impossible; she went to school and in the evening we met up with her cousins for a slap-up meal at ..... wait for it ..... MacDonalds!!! It was where she wanted, despite me trying to convince her otherwise!
Ben has got his first proper cold and is not proving to be a very good patient! Typical male I think (he probably thinks he has the flu!!) Poor little chap is teething as well, so I make sure I put his amber necklace on all day which is helping I'm sure. He's off his food a bit and is crying a lot which is just not how he normally is, so let's hope he gets better soon. Anyhow, things are ticking along OK but I'm going to be making some changes - I'll be saying more in future blogs so I can keep you guessing and have you come back again lol! I'm continuing to have good feedback which is very pleasing and am continually on the lookout for new items to stock. Time to stop as, saddo that I am, I want to see the Sunday screening of Strictly Come Dancing (no sniggering please!!!) Take care all. Ali x Where does the time go?Posted Nov-24-07 12:53:26 PST Hi all, I'm sorry that I haven't been around much but just been so busy with one thing and another. Can't believe that Christmas is so close and no, I'm not remotely ready for it (as usual!) The scarey thing is I only have one free weekend and I think we might be heading down South then, so time is running out.
Anyhow, enough of that. Pleased to report that my baltic amber teething necklaces are being well received - so much so that I've just put another order in. I really hope they help people as much as they are me and Ben; it makes a lot of difference just popping it onto him first thing in the morning (I take it off at nighttime) - he can wake up really cranky, I put it on and in 30 mins or so all's well in the world. He's got his 6th tooth coming and don't we know it lol! Have found a lovely supplier of gently worn clothes which I am starting to list. I'm thrilled and getting lovely brands like Gap, Next, Marks & Spencers and the clothes all look new. Keep an eye out for the listings and grab yourself a bargain. Also, I've offered 10% discount to those returning buyers as a way of thanking them. I've had a couple of repeat customers and am pleased that they like what I'm doing - something is working obviously! Best get on, John's away in America for a week at a conference and I've promised myself I won't sit on here for hours and hours each evening. Hard though when it's the only real time I get to myself. Take care all and I'll be back soon. Ali x Baltic Amber teething necklacesPosted Nov-14-07 11:54:16 PST I'm pleased to be able to report that my teething necklaces have arrived. I've been using one on Ben with great success so far, so am in the process of listing them for the shop. They are really beautiful and in the sunshine they glow. I especially like them because they're safe as they're knotted either side of each bead, so IF (which is extremely unlikely) the rope broke you wouldn't have the danger of bits of amber everywhere from a choking point of view. Apparently the amber calms and soothes the baby and helps to get rid of teething pain etc. Also, it is meant to help the immune system to stay strong. The ones I have are multi-coloured, but you can get different types so if these work out I may well try some others next time too! Had a fright today as my Dad helped me to do my spreadsheet of profit/loss for Bumbs n Bubs. Let's just say I've got a LONG way to go! I really need all the business I can get, so all I can do is to keep doing what I've been doing and hope my customers stick by me!! It's a very competitive market and I'm a small fish in a very big sea lol! I'm enjoying it a lot though which, after all, is the main thing. The children are both well and Chloe is looking forward to her school disco next week. Ben has discovered that he can scream and it isn't helped by Chloe copying him as he just does it even more. They are both tucked up in bed now and Jon is lighting up the woodburner so I'm going to call it a day now. Take care everyone! Ali x At long last!Posted Nov-08-07 13:03:10 PST Yes, my new OshKosh clothes have arrived and I'm really pleased with them. The dresses are gorgeous - they are beige cord with beautiful heather and pink embroidered flowers on the chest. The sleeves are long and have a gathered cuff and there's also some gathering on the dress itself under the bodice. All in all, these are lovely cosy dresses for the winter with warm tights!
I'm pleased with the boys shirts too, again OshKosh, and in a really nice beige/olive check with olive, white and green lines. As with my shirts I had before, they are in super warm brushed cotton and have a chest pocket on the left hand side. Ben's too little and Chloe's too girly, but wish I could keep one of these for them lol! Also I have some great girls funky party tops - these are black with either metallic green or metallic pink flower print on them. I reckon these would look fantastic with leggings and are just right for the coming party season! Have I introduced you to Anton and Kate? They are my 2 child mannequins I got the other day and they will be wearing these lovely clothes over the next few days whilst I take photos ready for listing. As you may have guessed, I do like Strictly Come Dancing, so thought Anton and Kate would be a good name for them. I have some wonderful quality pre-worn clothes coming in over the next few days so will, once again, be waiting for Mr Delivery Man!! OK guys, best be off now but will be back again over the next few days. Take care, Ali x Moving at a snail's pace!Posted Nov-05-07 06:26:59 PST Updated Nov-05-07 11:34:15 PST They do say that a watched kettle never boils don't they! I am waiting for some really nice OshKosh stock to come in and you'd never believe the amount of delivery vans etc that go up and down my road - but not for me!!!! Got fed up waiting, called my supplier and was told that it'll come tomorrow - yippee!! Am I really sad d'you think? Perhaps best not answer that. I'm pleased to report that I have been able to sit down and relax with my very understanding husband John before 10.00 each night which is a miracle because I've been on here all hours up until Saturday. There's just soooo much to do! Getting into a routine of when Ben has his morning nap I do housework (boo hiss) and for the afternoon nap I come on here for a while, plus a bit straight after the kids go to bed. Seems to work ..... so far! I must tell you about some wonderful mittens I had come in the other day which are listed both in the shop and as Buy It Nows. They're lovely and colourful with a very cute swan/goose on (not sure which one it is) and the best thing is they have a cord attached which you thread through your child's coat. So no more lost mittens - I wonder if they come in adult sizes too cos I'm forever losing my gloves lol! Got lots more ideas for the shop but I need more of my stock items to sell first. I won't tell you them now but let's just say I have plans!!! OK, best get on methinks! Take care and speak again soon Ali x |
