My mom is an ovarian cancer survivor.  September is Ovarian Cancer awareness month and I would like to help spread the word as a tribute to my mom.  The ovarian cancer ribbon is Teal. 

Ovarian cancer is very difficult to detect and usually is not diagnosed until it has reached a stage 4 or higher.  There are no known symptoms or warnings until typically it is too late.  Ovarian cancer does not get nearly enough credit because no one knows exactly how to find it.  There is no one simple test that can be done.  Only a serious of tests that eventually will add up to the calculation of cancer.  My mother was in the hospital for 3 days before being diagnosed.  It all started with difficulty breathing (she thought it had to do with her allergies).  Fluid on the lungs.  Something that seemed to be so simple turned out to be life threatening.  It took several different tests before they diagnosed her with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer.  Don't take simple days of not feeling well for granted.  Go to the Doctor!  You can never be too cautious, and the sooner you find out why your not feeling so well, the better (even if you think it's stupid :).  Please be aware that this cancer is a very life threatening disease.  It's time to take this type of cancer seriously and educate ourselves and others on what we can do to detect it and prevent it.

Mom, I want you to know that all I do, I do for you.  I can only hope that someday I will have half of the strength and courage that you have.  I admire you more every day.  I have come to realize everyday is a blessing and should never be taken for granted.  Thank you for being you and for never giving up the fight.  You have endured all the challenges life has given you.  You have mantained a smile on your face and kept laughter in your heart.  You fought every bit of the way with dignity and strength.  I am blessed to be the one that calls you Mom. 

I just want to say "I Love You, Mom".  You are truly the world's greatest.
