Most Recent Posts PayPal and eBay do not protect buyersPosted Feb-28-08 07:40:51 PST It has been a few months but I am still angry and disappointed with eBay and PayPal for washing their hands when buyers seek refunds for fakes. I bought 2 Vibe Red Roxx in the USA (earliest purchase in September) and only discovered they were fakes upon returning to Hong Kong in November.
Briefly, they said my claim for the first purchase was time barred and asked me to go to Square Deal or something like that which I could not make head or tail of. Basically they all gave me the run around - I was just going around in circles and wasting time and energy.
They also refused my claim for the other 2 because I had mailed the items back without a delivery receipt - despite emails from the seller saying he would refund the purchase prices upon receipt of the items. He denied receiving the items and so I was denied by Paypal.
My Paypal account was funded by my bank account for 1 purchase (because the Paypal site says there is a better guarantee if one pays via the bank account), and 2 purchases were funded from my American Express account.
After emailing and submitting my claims and getting the royal run around, Paypal refused to pay - in all 3 cases. BUT after I contact American Express and obtained an address to send copies of all my printed our messages and emails, they refunded BOTH the purchases I had paid for on my AMEX card. Thank you, AMEX!
I cancelled my the eBay account I had been using, and also my PayPal account.
I no longer think eBay is a good place to buy things as many sellers have counterfeit/fakes and eBay does not seem to police the listings. They just want the transactions.
And Paypal is a shame because their guarantee is useless.
Buyers, if you are genuine take AMERICAN EXPRESS cards. |
