Archive - June 2007 What happened to summer?Posted Jun-25-07 02:47:29 PDT Is this rain ever going to stop? To top it all off we have gales as well this morning - the windows are shaking and the trees in tha back garden are bending over! This is supposed to be flaming June!!!!!! Better cheer up soon - we're going camping in a couple of weeks. It's the only holiday we are having this year and I'll be darned if I'm gonna spend it inside the camper van freezing!! We didn't pay peak season campsite charges for that!!!!!! Spam sandwich anyone?Posted Jun-23-07 09:20:53 PDT Spam for breakfast....Posted Jun-23-07 02:33:24 PDT Smile and the world smiles with you...Posted Jun-22-07 14:42:19 PDT Thanks for all your supportive comments and messages...Posted Jun-22-07 14:01:30 PDT Well most of the flood damge has been sorted now - we will have to replace a lot of the electrical equipment - the till, credit card machine, fax machine, computer moniter (but fortunately computer itself ok!) but insurance should cover that. Luckily we sell motorbikes, spares and bike clothing most of which is designed to withstand the rain so the damage to stock has been limited. New flood defenses are in place and when the heavens opened, yet again, this afternoon they seemed to be doing the trick! Thanks to all you bloggers who sent messages of support and e-hugs. It was much appreciated!!!! 'Pacific' NecklacePosted Jun-20-07 12:09:28 PDT Here's a piccie of a new 'one-off' design I have just completed. Made from gorgeous turquoise chips and fresh water rice pearls with sterling silver beads and findings. I think 'Pacific' is just the right name for it as it reminds me of beautiful white sand beaches and clear blue lagoons. What do you think?
![]() Major disaster!!!!!!!Posted Jun-20-07 11:27:36 PDT The other halfs motorbike shop got hit by a flash flood last night. Water came pouring in through the workshop door upstairs and came pouring through the ceiling of the shop below soaking the till, the phone/fax machine, credit card machine and computer! Not to mention filling the biker boots that happened to be sat under the worst of it plus jackets and trousers (fortunately 'waterproof'). it's a nightmare! :-( God knows what it's gonna cost to get everything up and running again, not to mention lost revenue while we sort out the mess.... It's always the way running a small business - just when you think you're getting somewhere shit happens!!!!! Bah!!!!!!!! Captain Jack....Posted Jun-19-07 02:14:17 PDT Specially for Kiri....Morning all *YAWN*Posted Jun-19-07 01:55:37 PDT Hi everyone - I've been up since about 4am and was totally unable to go back to sleep. So did some ironing and a bit of tidying and watched a bit of tv and now I'm all ready to go back to bed but I've got to go babysitting in a bit plus a trip to the post office....*sigh* guess I should just tank up on coffee!!! Here's a piccie of some more gorgeous Labradorite jewellery I made on the weekend! (See yesterdays post!)
![]() Gonna have to love you and leave you....Posted Jun-18-07 05:25:11 PDT The sky has gone very black again - i think it's going to tip down and I have to walk into town to post some stuff and visit one of my outlets to pick up a nice big cheque for all the stuff sold last month! Ah well the sooner I go the sooner I can get back and get dry again lol Have a good day everyone! What did you do on the weekend?Posted Jun-18-07 05:08:09 PDT I spent most of Saturday doing chores - bah - freezer needed defrosting, everything needed hoovering, lots of laundry etc. The upside of this was that I awoke on Sunday morning to a nice clean tidy house and could devote myself to making loads more fab jewellery!!! Sometimes when I have a few spare hours to make what I want (rather than doing repairs or making up orders) I like to just pick out one stone and make several pieces that could be mixed and matched - so this week I chose Labradorite. It's one of my favourite stones - related to moonstone and with the same blue sheen when the light catches it but it's base colour is grey green rather than the white of moonstone. It blends so well with the sterling silver beads I use and is very popular - most of my Labradorite jewellery sells pretty quickly. Don't know if I will bother listing it in my ebay store as I know how well it will sell here in the Forest of Dean but here is a little piccie for you to see what I've been up to....

Hope you like it! Morning all....Posted Jun-16-07 02:38:16 PDT Hows everyone doing. I have a couple of auctions and BIN listings ending this weekend - not to mention a jam packed shop full of handmade jewellery! Things seem to be picking up a little - a few watchers more than there have been and - omg - I actually have a BIDDER!!!!!! Feel free to go and have browse around my shop as many of the items may not be there much longer as I am struggling to keep up with demand for my stuff locally and may have to move stock from the ebay shop to some real shops where I might actually sell it!!!! Have a good day!!! For tinkerbell!Posted Jun-14-07 12:49:48 PDT Sorry had to dash off - thanks for your comment to previous post ( and everyone else too!) Got of work early too - must be a day for it!!!! On the plus side this week i got taken on officially on a 12 month contract at the palce i've been working. Still only two days a week but getting paid properly instead of a 'casual day rate' and I get holidays!!! Made me feel a little more secure anyay! How much longer....Posted Jun-14-07 11:33:21 PDT Been checking back at my sales record and I am really not sure how much longer I can go on maintaining my ebay store - ihave certainly spent more in fees than I have taken in sales - and that doesn't include paypal fees and postage costs. Luckily my jewellery sells well in local gift shops so it is not dire yet but.... I really don't want to close my store as I have put a lot of hard work and time into making it look good and with a variety of stock but unless sales pick up soon I may have to close. I know that this is usual for the time of year but it certainly seems quieter than this time last year when I first started selling.., |
