The concept of harnessing a feed to populate your store is indeed a powerful one and a shop with an enormous amount of offerings can be constructed very quickly. But still, some additional value must be added if you are to get and retain your customers over the long run. With Coach Fashions, this will be relatively easy. I will break the variety of Coach items into first, their particular accessory area, and then into its specific product line. I will write a short blurb about each creation and by the time all is said and done there will be a very large amount of information given to my visitors about Coach and its products. In fact, I would say that you would be hard pressed to find, outside of the Coach site itself, a more complete picture of the company than that which will be found at this website. In addition, I will construct a similar store, using the Amazon feed, which will offer even more choices to my visitors, and link these 2 stores together. Given how I see the nature of the work involved, I would say that it would take about a week to have it up and running smoothly. This would be absolutely impossible without a program similar to BANS . Setting up the storePosted Mar-31-08 17:56:22 PDT Updated Apr-08-08 19:58:45 PDT Site: http://www.coach-fashions.com Installing BANS was relatively simple but like anything to do with computers, it helps a great deal to have some experience. Many of the "simple" things which must get done can be unfathomable to the inexperienced and cause no end of frustration. Uploading the Coach handbags, footwear and accessories store script to the server, creating the database and then linking everything together was not without a bit of adventure. In the end I needed some assisstance from the good folks at BANS because GoDaddy, my hosting sevice, had to have some files edited in order to work. The help staff was terrific and I got the shell of the Coach store up and running in about 4 hours. In the future, now that I know what I am doing, it should take no more than 30 minutes to be live. One thing that took a bit of time was selecting the correct categories from ebay and then filtering out those items that I didn't want. But after playing around for a bit the store was up and running. I then created 4 major pages:
Next, I will discuss how I see this store developing. COACH Fashions - The BeginningPosted Mar-24-08 21:34:03 PDT Updated Apr-01-08 09:48:55 PDT Well, here goes. It has always been a goal of mine to see if I can earn significant income from a website or a collection of websites. Ebay seemed a perfect choice because of the enormous amount of products available so it was here that I looked first. However, the amount of time needed to design a professional looking site, let alone individually populate hundreds, if not thousands, of products seemed to make this goal nothing more than a pipe dream. Then I heard of RSS feeds and the BANS software concept. BANS stands for Building A Niche Store and is a remarkable script which makes creating a store with thousands of products in about an hour a real possibility. I did some research, asked some questions in a few forums that I belong to, and then purchased the product. The cost is $97 and I am allowed to create an unlimited amount of stores with this single license. I purchased BANS on March 22, 2008 and I have created my first store, here on March 25, 2008. I am still amazed at that! Anyway, the store allows visitors to discover, explore and purchase fashion products from the popular Coach handbag, footwear and accessories product lines. Here is the website: www.coach-fashions.com What I intend to do in this blog series is to show the step by step process I used to create, develop and promote this site and give specific monetary details as to the success of this venture as well as all the positive and negative things I did along the way. In this way, anybody who might have an interest in doing the same thing can have a roadmap to follow. It should be a lot of fun and hopefully profitable :-). Next time I will talk about setting up BANS and getting ready to build the store. If you want to learn more about BANS, Click Here! |
