Business

Hey Guys.

I wanted to give everyone a brief history of me and my business. I started making acu purses about 1 year ago. Back then there were only two of us on eBay. Me and AlyGirl, who is awesome by the way!!!

I started because I had just been laid off from my retail job, my husband got into a car accident and totaled our truck we still owed $9,000 on, and above that, on our army pay, we made barely enough to pay for apartment off post. I had to do something and I though this would be a great opportunity showing off pride and making some money to get out of debt. Eventually, the market boomed and I had to do something else. I made a dog collar for my Dachshund Charlie that could hold business cards and we went walking around the village at some yard sales. Well, in happened that instead of wanting a purse, a lot of people asked to have me make them a dog collar! Some even paid on the spot! So, here I am, almost a year later, still making the dog collars and leashes. I am very proud of them and I was the first to sell them handcrafted collar and leashed on ebay.

Eventually, I came up with the key chain Idea. Now, I am trying to start my own business.

My collars are made with a special box stitch and are flipped out so your dog does not bald on his or her neck. I offer metal clasps and heavy duty dee rings so your dog can't get loose. The name branch tape is re enforced for durablity. The problem with people that make collars by copying from pictures is that they do not tend to re-enforce with a box stitch or tuck the collar outwards. These minor mistakes can eventually cause your dog to rub fur right off of his neck, and even come loose because the dee ring was not properly stitched in place.  I have seen some of the other collars out on eBay and there are some out there that aren't made very well. I keep my collars very affordable. I went to Petco the other day to check on the current prices and a 4ft leash was $12 and a Medium nylon collar was $10 for a 1" width with plastic. My prices are very competetive since mine include the embroidery and personalization! After ebay fees, I really don't make much! I am trying to get started and get my name out right now so I can create an inventory and eventually grow :) So take advantage of the discounted prices while they last!

I LOVE seeing my products walking around post! There is nothing that makes me happier than to see families in areas not near local posts, supporting their children, and or parents with Army Pride! I am starting to expand this month and have received MARPAT and ABU CAMO and will soon be posting collars and key chains for those branches as well. Coast Guard is coming soon!

Please feel free to make any comments on this blog or in my guest book!

I want some feedback about how I can make improvements and if you have any ideas or questions for me that you would like to see!
