Whether or not you are Catholic matters very little. While this happened years before any stock exchange, any mortgage crisis, any bank foreclosure, any credit crunch, it seemed very relevant to the history of this week in America; Reading II Phil 4:12-14, 19-20 Brothers and sisters: I know how to live in humble circumstances; I know also how to live with abundance. In every circumstance and in all things I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry, of living in abundance and of being in need. I can do all things in him who strengthens me. Still, it was kind of you to share in my distress. My God will fully supply whatever you need, in accord with his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father, glory forever and ever. Amen. Ellen So, today on the blogs.........Posted Oct-08-08 17:42:36 PDT ........someone that I have blogged with for quite some time said that I was not at all intelligent because I believe in God. There were websites listed, all sorts of information posted as to why my belief system and my faith are worthless wasted energy. I responded in kind of a flippant, light-hearted way, just because I had no idea that this was this person's feeling of absolute belief. Obviously the identification of their very being. So I apologized. But as far as abandoning my faith in the face of a website...well that just won't happen. This person went on to absolutely refute everything, lock, stock and barrel, that anyone else said. Okay, I thought, this is a pedestal post. So anyway, the blogger went on to post in true rant fashion and eventually, everyone either got ticked off or just realized that this was a futile pursuit. What this person failed to realize was that in being so unwilling to listen and so determined to throw out absolutes, he became exactly what he posted against; closed minded, dogma ridden........ People, please believe whatever it is that allows you to sleep at night. Espouse whatever faith you will and reject what offends you. And don't be afraid to speak your mind, but do it tactfully and intelligently (even if someone says you aren't very smart). And to be honest, while folks are spending all day digging up stuff to disprove that my God exists, I am out doing the work He inspires me to do, teaching little kids who would otherwise face a cruel future to read and write. My heart goes out to all of you tonight........ Last weekend we painted the bedroom......the results..... |
