Archive - July 2006 Back to School Shopping!Posted Jul-16-06 08:56:40 PDT I lucked out and found a box of NEW WITH TAGS bookbags - just in time for back to school shopping. When do you all start this dreaded task? I wait until the last minute to buy clothes for my two boys, 10 and 16, because it never fails - they want to wear what I buy them immediately. If I buy too soon, then they are "worn" before school starts! Plus (giggle) the longer you wait, the bigger the sales!! Check my auctions for lots of back to school bookbags for boys and girls! Buy two and I'll cut shipping on the second and subsequent in HALF!! But you have to mention that you read about the discount on my blog! Displaying Vintage JewelryPosted Jul-09-06 08:43:44 PDT What do you do with the vintage jewelry you collect? Do you wear it? Do you display it? Do you craft with it? I remember last year at Christmas time, there were several ebayers selling the COOLEST shabby chic type Christmas trees that were laden with vintage jewels. They were absolutely STUNNING! In the last thread, an ebayer said she creates new jewelry with the old, mixing the old and new together - very clever! There are a few pieces that I really, really want to keep and wear . . . but they would really require an evening dress and night out! I don't have the occasion for events like this anymore. (Hmmm . . . maybe I need to create some.) I'm thinking I want to display some . . . right now that means it is laying out on black velvet waiting for a buyer or photography. There must be a better way! I plan to redo my bedroom with a boutique hotel theme using my Grandmother's antique bedroom suite. Maybe I can create a couple shadow boxes with my favorite pieces? Tell me, tell me . . . what do you do with your vintage jewelry?
My latest auction find . . .Posted Jul-08-06 19:56:40 PDT Updated Jul-08-06 20:00:42 PDT Ok . . . so I heard about this blog thing at Ebay Live in Las Vegas last month. I'm giving it a try! I thought I'd use this space to share and hopefully exchange information with others. My latest auction find was on the 4th of July at an Antiques Auction in Central Pennsylvania. I bought tray after tray of vintage jewelry. I couldn't help myself . . . I've developed this intense fascination with vintage fashion. It started with clothing, but when I saw these dirty little gems and metals, I knew that I could lovingly clean them and bring them back to life. So I went nuts and bought A LOT of baubles!! So today I created a new category in my store for vintage jewelry and am just starting to get them listed. I grabbed some books of the 'net and am eagerly ready to immerse myself into the world of vintage jewelry. Here is the link to the vintage jewelry category: I'd welcome any recommended must read internet guides . . . |
