Aunt Lori's Vintage & Retro

My latest auction find . . .

Ok . . . so I heard about this blog thing at Ebay Live in Las Vegas last month.  I'm giving it a try!  I thought I'd use this space to share and hopefully exchange information with others.

My latest auction find was on the 4th of July at an Antiques Auction in Central Pennsylvania.  I bought tray after tray of vintage jewelry.  I couldn't help myself . . . I've developed this intense fascination with vintage fashion.  It started with clothing, but when I saw these dirty little gems and metals, I knew that I could lovingly clean them and bring them back to life.  So I went nuts and bought A LOT of baubles!!

So today I created a new category in my store for vintage jewelry and am just starting to get them listed.  I grabbed some books of the 'net and am eagerly ready to immerse myself into the world of vintage jewelry.

Here is the link to the vintage jewelry category:

I'd welcome any recommended must read internet guides . . .

Weird. I have a new fascination for estate jewelry also. It started last week when Goodwill had 1/2 price day again. They package a bunch of estate jewels in a mason jar and sell it off as one price. Now I'm hooked. Today I went yard saling and found a ton of estate jewelry. I bought everything I could find! And then I went to another yard sale and a woman beat me to a pile of jewelry, was that you by any chance?

Brandi - LOL . . . no it definitely wasn't me! I'm not an early enough riser to make it to yard sales!

I haven't checked my local Goodwill yet. They have weird hours here, but GREAT idea!

I came upon the woman crouched down sorting through the gems. She had a small pile building up of what she wanted to buy. Then as I got closer, she shoveled everything in one bag and said she would take it all! Whoa! I thought I missed the boat on that one!

There is a lady who matches this description that I encounter at many an auction. She is obviously well versed in what is valuable and what isn't. I watch her, hoping to glean some knowledge, as she sorts and looks at the back of a piece, moving it about to get a better visual and may smile to herself. Of course, I tactfully wait until she moves along and then scurry over to the piece she was so carefully reviewing, myself turning it over, moving it about and I don't see ANYTHING! (chucking at myself) . . . I really need more education!

Hi! Isn't fun shopping for Vintage? I love vintage items as well. I bead and I create bracelets with new and vintage "the old meets the new" which is a lot of fun shopping for those finds. I saw your finds, and you got great items. It's too bad now that thrift stores are selling them at a higher price, even the broken pieces, or just one earring, they want to sell them as it was the pair or more. Well, here in Arizona.
