Whats On Your Plate For Thanksgiving?Posted Nov-11-07 08:00:14 PST Our Family Thanksgiving 2007 Main Course Roast Turkey Side Dishes Thanksgiving Stuffing Twice-Baked Potato Casserole Cranberry Jelly Sauce Hot Rolls Vegatables Buttered Baby Carrots And Sweet Peas Green Bean Casserole Mashed Butternut Squash Creamed Pearl Onions Desserts Pumpkin Pie / Mince Pie Baked Pineapple Bread Pudding Just StuffPosted Nov-10-07 16:23:32 PST I know , I go on and on talking about silver ( plate ) .... a few minutes ago I made an offer and won 8 Ice Tea / Dessert spoons to finish off ( with 16 complete settings ) what we call the " Family Silver " . We managed to make up this " Family Silver " with 16 place settings for a song a few months ago there were 2 good size lots and I won an auction with some of it in a nice box. I even have extra but its not in the kind of condition that I would like to put in the family silver rotation , its not awful its just not what I had hoped for. Maybe we will offer it up at some point. I'm looking a long way into the future with this , which is really fun .... theres 7 of us now , 5 are the kids , when they marry there will be 10 , plus my husband and I thats 12 and I have enough for the first 4 grandchildren . My husband jokes that I need a service for at least 22 , that would be enough for all of us if each child has 2 kids of their own. My reply.... if there comes a time where I need to go over 16 place settings we are renting a hall and calling a caterer * smile * .
Feedback Delights and DilemmasPosted Nov-10-07 10:40:29 PST I always leave feed back , sometimes I find myself in a hard spot. The item was less than described in my opinion based on other items of the same pattern that I own. Yet , where the term " used vintage " is SO open to the eye of the person describing it that it makes leaving feed back very hard. Then there is the situation that if you leave unflattering feed back , even if you paid within minutes of the auction close , you know the person is going to leave you bad feed back just to stick it to you. If I'm not pleased with an auction and I know complaining or leaving unflattering feed back is only going to come back at me then I will only use a few words like " Thank You " or Item Received " . To date I have never left negative feed back although today I was on the verge , the items were in poor shape , claimed they were one type of flatware when they were another , silver loss all over the place. The pictures didn't show the extent of the damage and neither did the description. I didn't leave negative feed back because of the whole " used vintage " term is sorta like one mans trash is another mans treasure. In this sellers opinion these were in good shape , their view of Used Vintage , its safe to say we do not share the same view . It was disappointing to say the least. On the other hand , I received another item today from a seller who really takes pride in her auctions , the item was described perfectly , sent very quickly , packaged like a little present with pretty printed tissue paper and a fabric bow. It was like getting a gift from a dear friend lol. I feel like I've seen it all from 100 year old flatware being shipped in a Raisin Bran box , to it all being crammed into a zip lock bag to todays arrival that was like a little gift. So there you have it my feedback delights and dilemmas . |
