Most Recent Posts 3rd postPosted Dec-01-07 08:16:23 PST I'm still here but using borrowed transportation. The transmission on my Chevy burned up. I took it in to a neighborhood mechanic for an oil change. He changed the oil and said he checked all the fluid levels but, not 2 weeks later, the transmission stopped working and when I checked the fluid level, it was dry. Well there was a little fluid in it but it barely touched the end of the dip. Now I'm borrowing my son's car and looking for transportation. He thinks he's found a 91 Ford Ranger in good shape. I'm going to look at it and see if I can afford it. So it will probably be a while until I can get internet access. In the meantime I'll just keep on using the library. There's no point in going back to the mechanic about it. He can't afford to do anything anyway. I guess I just learned a lesson and will get oil changes at WalMart from now on. Second Post.Posted Nov-25-07 12:59:01 PST Updated Nov-25-07 13:06:49 PST I've received 5 answers so far and want to thank you. Is there a way to e-mail you or do I do it this way or just post a comment to your blogs? I took the week of Thanksgiving off but I have to go to work again Monday. I have a problem with access right now as I said. I either use the computer at the clubhouse or one at the library. Both seem to have problems. A lot of things are blocked including pop-ups and videos. I will click on a link and get a message telling me that kind of link is not approved of because it may have viruses. I guess these people have to protect their own equipment first. E-mail gets through ok I think, but a lot of attachments do not. I click and either nothing happens or I get a message saying the computer does not accept them. I probably need to change my user name to something more friendly. I notice you use a lot of creativity in yours. Mine is just my first name and my area code. As you can probably tell, I've calmed down a little since my first post but I still need all the advice you're willing to give. Thanks. -Bell-727 First post. Nov 23, 2007Posted Nov-24-07 08:09:08 PST I am 72 and beginning to think about retirement. Then again, maybe I won't. Since I am in the process of moving into a retirement community and have a lot more possessions than I can move into my smaller quarters, I need to get rid of things. Of course I also need to decide what to get rid of. But, anyway, ebay seemed a place to start. Right now I don't have computer access because I don't have a land-line phone and don't really see why I need one. So I'm checking out cable and trying to get used to the idea. Does anyone know anything about cable computer access. I have a desk-top Compaq and a lap-top Asus. The Asus is the better computer but it needs more memory. I'm a retired computer programmer who started a 2nd (well, 6th or 7th really) career as an electronics technician. I'm considering going back to school because I'm getting burned out on this. I'm considering either teaching or vetrinary medicine. I think vets probably meet a better class of people. Back to ebay. The mirrors are probably most in my way but how on earth would you ship them. I also have a lot of books, many of them mysteries, craft materials, some unfinished craft projects, pots & pans unsuitable for a glass top range, throw pillows, & I don't know what all. I don't know my way around ebay and can't figure where to start. I joined a group thinking maybe that would help but can't ask a question because the start new thread button is partially obscured and when I click on what I can reach of it, nothing happens. How do you put up something up for sale. How often do you have to check for results. What do you do if someone buys something. Help!! |
