MY SOAP BOX PLEASE............

Ok, I hope you don't mind and I'm not going to be PC ( politically correct, for those of you who didn't know that's what PC meant... I didn't, I thought it was a computer???) anyway, I read this article from the AP, BLIND PEOPLE: HYBRID CARS POSE HAZARD. You got it, now apparently we should rid the world of the gas saving, environment saving, pollution ( not to mention noise pollution) saving cars because apparently they are too quiet and can pose a risk to blind people crossing the streets?
People!!!! Aren't we all at risk when crossing the streets? I mean I only live in Wisconsin and you should see some of our crazy drivers, we can't take the drivers off the road and we need to walk at times so let's all learn to live in harmony(the song... the ink is black the page is white, together we learn to read and write is going through my head as I write this :). Drivers be aware, pedestrians look both ways and the blind....... to be honest I have no idea how you do it but a hybrid car isn't the culprit and you live in a dangerous world at all times so my hats off to you for your daily struggles.

Marc Maurer from the National Federation for the Blind says he doesn't want to go back to the gas guzzling way of cars, geez thanks Marc, but he wants noise added to the Prius that is almost silent. Does that sound insane to anyone other than me?
To be honest I'm so sick of "special interest" groups advocating what's in THEIR best interest, how about the best interest of humanity?

I'm not just saying it's the blind, we apparently have no "Official Language", you can't even make a phone call without getting a press 1 for English, para espanol primera numero dos, and then some Hmong language I'm assuming saying press 3, we have Black Heritage Month, American Negro College Funds, anything Christian being banned from schools, government buildings etc and that is the tip of the ice burg... and that's another subject because soon with Global Warming we won't have any ice burgs... what saying will we use then?

Why can't the Christians say they want prayer in school or a manager scene at the freaking Post Office, why can't their be White but poor College Fund , why can you get by without having to learn our language in American where we speak English, how come there isn't a Italian Heritage Month??? Inquiring minds WANT to know. If someone tried some of those things it's racist or prejudicial yet we have special interests groups trying to put their view on everyone. I don't care if there is Black History Month.. I think it's fascinating and I like it but there should be National White History Month or Italian Month.... I'm digressing........ back on track.

Global Warming..... will touch each and everyone of us, now don't go thinking I'm some "greenie", who wears hemp clothing, doesn't use deodorant and burns incense, well I do burn incense but I, at times, throw my aluminum cans in the regular garbage, I've thrown my gum out the window when I'm driving my car, I get plastic and not paper at the grocery store ( though I'm going to change that), I just don't want to see our world destroyed by our neglect. Glaciers are receding, Polar Bears are in trouble, The Ozone is thinning, Cancers and diseases are at record highs, car emissions loom over large cities...... aren't Hybrid cars are good thing? Isn't that a step in the right direction?

Should the blind rethink their dispute with Hybrid car makers being whisper quiet and maybe use their voice for something that will help and effect humanity as a whole?

Maybe the blind should wear reflectors or yellow vests when they are out on the streets like bicyclists do so as to be seen by drivers? Did they ever think of that as a solution or is it automatically the Hybrids fault?

ok.... I'm sure MANY will disagree with me and that's the great thing about America, well that and apple pie and baseball and the lottery, we can disagree but we should agree that this is our only, to date, planet to live on and we need to do whatever we can to keep it life friendly. Hybrids are a step in that direction.
