Fun with the language meanings-add yours

A few yrs ago,, I called a place for info.

An Aussie answered. After a fun conversation , as we parted he said , " Call again , Mate"

First Aussie encounter. Told someone i'd been mated by an Aussie.

An american, he was unsure about the correctness of that.

Gotta love the language fun.

 

As B. Franklin said: usa and England  -  2 countries seperated by a common language.

 

Any funny experiences ?

oh I've got lots lol Funniest one was when I took my daughters shopping for school supplies just after we moved here. Youngest who was 9 at the time yelled down office depot...mum, theres 3 rubbers in a pack, can I get them for school? I yelled back...get 2 packs, your sister is going to need some! Wasn't till I saw all these people staring that I realised what I just said lol

oh that is a good one

aloonnngg time ago. I bought a British made car.

We had the best time reading the manual. Bonnet was one of the words that were different. That and glove box.

no its getting easier bengal. At first I used to confuse people but now I say a lot of your words for things. Thats where car boot sales come from...you sell out of the boot of your car lol
