Bette Davis Eyes: TurquoisePosted Jan-21-08 17:03:15 PST Updated Apr-19-08 19:23:02 PDT Since the photo of her is small it's difficult to see the stunning color of those famous, expressive Bette Davis eyes: turquoise when light hits them. Was enough how she used them to convey herself in B&W. In color, when she did, Bette Davis was a raving beauty. Most of her archived movies, over a hundred, are in black and white, unfortunately. However, in her next to the last dramatic performance in a major movie, "Whales of August," in 1987, with Lillian Gish, Vincent Price & Ann Southern, when Ms. Davis is literally dying of breast cancer, having worked quite hard to overcome post-stroke after-effects, her character cannot see! During her last great performance the actor best known for expressing herself through gorgeous eyes proves at 80 yo. that her voice, hands, mannerisms, attitudes, stature, carriage, use of props, interactions with co-actors, and most especially, how she puts her whole being into her character could be done without the use of what she's best known for: her turquoise eyes. |
