BlackEye Athletics has entered the building!

BlackEye - Newbie question?

Does anyone on this board make a deceant profit on eBay?  I'm fairly new and I'm wondering if I made the right choice by starting my business on eBay?  My sales are up one month; and down the next.  I'm not trying to make a killin', but I would like to make a respectable monthly profit...

Hi..i took a look at your store, nice items, i dont think they are overpriced for new athletic equipment, but are they competively priced to your competition and the big box stores ?? Also please realize that e-bay is a numbers game, the more items you have listed in different catagories the more traffic you will generate, the more traffic you generate the more sales you will have, until it actually takes on a life of its own..LOL>>> also if i may offer a couple of suggestions, add more shipping choices, at least 3, and make sure to offer overseas shipping / sales, also make insurance mandatory, it protects you and the buyer, use programs like googlebase and isdn free insertion to the search engines, make sure your rss feed is activated and blog alot..the blogs are fed out to the search engines thru rss and can help generate traffic..
Summer is traditionally slow on e-bay, hang in there things will pick up, try different things to keep our costs low (auctiva pics) and such..Best of luck in your new venture

it all depends on what you have invested. I ran a comic book and sports card store for a little over 20 years. my inventory has been paid for a long, long time. so after fees and store costs, I take home a nice chunk of spending money. not near enough to live on, but enough that my hobby is FREE (ebay pays for 100% of all my collection.) and has bought me new tires, all new doors for my house, a ton of new windows, a new patio, all in the last 6 months. now we are saving to put in a new furnace/AC before winter.

good luck. Dave

Im in the same position as dave (solo vader) ive got twenty + years of merchandise that was paid for and written off years and years ago, not to mention im a trading assistant with 15 weekly consignment customers bringing me new items (no out of pocket merchandise costs) that make me 30% pure profit...

Thanks you very much...all. I haven't invested that much cash in inventory, etc. but I'm concerned about the inconsistency of sales. No worries though, it's a hobby for me as well.
