If a CZ (or pretty much any other gem natural or lab-made) is cut with quality & care, then it will look like a diamond and takes a few minutes with a loupe for even us jewelers to tell. And we sell the Finest Russian Cut Cubic Zirconium in the world. Ours are very hard to tell from a natural diamond.. The one give is the color- only the absolute best diamonds are pure white- most have a touch of yellow. CZ's are nearly always pure white, like the best diamonds.
