What Should I Sell on eBay?

Fact: In a recent survey 86% of the EAB Newsletter subscribers stated that the greatest hindrance to their productivity is figuring out what to sell on eBay.

Fact: Although this is a real concern, there ARE methods you can use to find the most remunerative products for your business.

If you are having a difficult time figuring out what you should be selling on eBay, don’t feel discouraged. You’re in good company; the fact is that even eBay’s most successful sellers often encounter this problem on a repeated basis. But what separates them from the rest is their persistent innovation and restructuring. Powersellers do NOT have any special magic spell that allows them to know what to sell on eBay. Rather, what makes them successful is their willingness to stay tuned in to the market and make ongoing adjustments to their product base.

Needless to say, the pros tend to choose from a large bag of tricks when creating a market strategy. But what you need to keep in mind is that Powersellers are just ordinary people, and each of their methods is entirely teachable. In future articles we will discuss several of these, but today I just want to focus in on one of the most important tricks. It’s called “flipping.”

“Flipping” consists of buying cheep items from wholesalers and then reselling them on eBay for a profit. It sounds easy, and in a way it is. But your chances for success will be increased if you already know what to sell on eBay. Before telling you how to flip the products we should go over quickly a list of items that are the most likely to be successful in this process.

Getting Products

Your best strategy for flipping products on eBay will be to start out with very cheap items that can be bought in bulk for a low overhead. All at once, this will decrease your risk level and increase your profitability. Try finding products that can be shipped for low prices from China or bought in bulk from a local wholesaler. Below are a few product types that you might consider:

* Inexpensive Jewelry
* Stickers
* Mobile Phone Accessories
* Headphones
* Beauty products
* Batteries
* And so forth…

You get the idea. Just try to find items that are very inexpensive and yet have everyday value. If you find a product that you like, conduct a little market research before going ahead with it. Look on TeraPeak or just use eBay’s advanced search tool.

If you don’t already have a wholesaler that you like, try one or more of the following sites:

* SmallVolume.com
* LightInTheBox.com
* SourcingMap.com

Of course there are hundreds other legitimate wholesalers, but these three you may trust as I have tested them each myself.

Flip It!

This step is perhaps the most important of the process. Whether or not you carry this part out competently will determine whether you break even or make a sizable profit.

You’ve just bought a large quantity of un-branded but attractive products. Now its time to “flip” them (i.e. tweak them in a way that strategically increases their value). Here are five easy ways to make this happen:

1. If it LOOKS good it IS good!
This is the easiest and most important way to flip a product. Make sure that you take high quality pictures of your products. Don’t take a shoddy 100x100 picture on your cell phone. If you product looks good online, this is what will make people want to buy it. If it looks dull as a result of poor lighting or image quality they will look elsewhere.

2. A change of garment.
Try putting your generic product into a new refined packaging. Once again, you will find that this improves the overall impression you product makes and will increase not only the volume of your sales, but the amount that people are willing to pay for your products.

3. What’s in a name?
Giving your product a new name can work as a supplement to tip number two. If you can add a unique brand name to your packaging (or better yet, to the product itself) this will also mean a substantial profit increase.

4. Don’t let your products get lonely.
Try selling packaged sets of several different but related products. By selling products in sets you increase the overall perception of value for the whole, thereby increasing your profitability.

5. Buy wholesale, sell wholesale.
Even if you aren’t technically a wholesaler, you can still market yourself as one on eBay. Many eBay newbies are dying to buy a wholesale lot right off of eBay. You can simply resell a lot that you have purchased elsewhere for a modest increase. Try combining this with steps 1 through 3 for maximum efficacy.

Looking for Wholesale Items to Sell on eBay?

So you're looking for wholesale items to sell on eBay? Good news for You! This means that you have realized the fact – to be able to make decent profit on eBay, you have to buy products @ wholesale prices. At least, if you're not using other product sourcing strategies.

For starters, I wouldn't recommend a newbie to start looking for a wholesaler who can supply you with hot sellers, like iPods, Video Games iPhones and other electronics. To buy branded electronics in wholesale from authorized distributors, you'll need a huge capital to invest and a verifiable business background.

Yes, of course, you can import electronics from Hong Kong and some other places but keep in mind that you face a bigger chance to get scammed. Websites like Alibaba.com are full of scammers who will take your money and run away.

However, 99% of scammers are working in electronics market as it attracts more desperate buyers than all other categories together! Hence, it's much easier for scammers to kindly request their payment via “Western Union”.

Ok, so what should I do? Where to get wholesale items to sell on eBay? One of the choices is to go in niche markets – buy cheap, quality stuff from manufacturers in Asia and sell on eBay for 200%+ ROI. Here are some quick product ideas:

1) Sell Airsoft Bbs. These are mostly manufactured in Taiwan and can be bought really cheap. This is a perfect product to sell on eBay as it's cheap, doesn't get old and you can have good profit margins.

2) Sell nail art supplies to nail technicians. Yes, there are a lot of Asian sellers doing this but you can beat them by having stock in country where buyer is - US, UK or any other country you're based. You can offer fast & secure shipping. Most importantly – create outstanding pictures, with close-ups and you're guaranteed to success! Presentation is still the weakest point for majority Asian sellers.

3) Sell iPhone accessories With a Twist! Do you know how you can turn any s**t into a sell able product on eBay? Simply present it exclusively. Take for example iPhone screen protectors. You can buy them @ $0.20 from a manufacturer in China. Get custom design on packaging and present it in a different way – target specific market like teens, stay at home mums etc. Remember, it's all about how it looks!

So here you go – 3 ideas on what to sell on eBay. All three products can be bought cheap from China, just do a search on Alibaba.com Remember, research suppliers properly before sending money. Never ever send money via Western Union as this is a very clear sign of potential scam.

On the other hand, if you do not want to deal with Asian manufacturers or wholesalers, I have putted together some FREE information on how to make money on eBay by selling hot selling items, like iPods, Video Games and DVDs – EasyAuctionBusiness.com
