Archive - January 2007 NBC's Heroes returns with Ghost Rider and 300 in tow!Posted Jan-24-07 16:00:14 PST Updated Jan-30-07 12:27:38 PST The return of NBC’s Heroes this week was great! It was a long seven weeks since the last original episode... Aside from the great episode, NBC also showed extended commercial previews from the films Ghost Rider and 300. Coincidently, last week I posted items associated with both these films:
Here’s what I'm purchasing this week: 52 WEEK #38 I’m also going to try to find a copy of last week’s new comic book, Conan and the Midnight God. I just became aware that this story is a follow-up to the story in the RARE Funcom Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures comic. If you’ve read Funcom’s book, you know it's a great read. If you haven’t been able to get a hold of Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, you're in luck! I’ve got a beautiful copy of the book for sale! But you better hurry and place your bid. The auction ends tomorrow!
Thanks again, to everyone who continues to support my habit- especially this week's enablers, di6661 and melaniefafa8. Also, thanks for reading my blog! And don't forget to bid on my current listings!!! Ghost Rider, 300, Buffy, ConanPosted Jan-18-07 18:51:50 PST Updated Jan-19-07 08:59:42 PST This week I'm selling some great collectibles to help feed my comic book appetite!
With the Ghost Rider and 300 film adaptations due to hit theaters on Feb. 14 and March 9 respectively, merchandise based on the two awesome comic book properties are hot!
...And for fans of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Conan, I have a Comic-Con International exclusive Vampire Angel Action Figure and Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures comic book for sale.
I'm continually thankful for my eBay enablers. Thanks to these wonderful buyers, I'm able to continue purchasing new comics every week!
Here’s what I purchased this week:
CONAN #36- Part two of an interesting storyline running between the bigger barbarian epics.
52 WEEK #37
SPIDER-MAN REIGN #2 SPIDER-MAN REIGN 2ND PTG ANDREWS VAR #1- I can’t believe I missed this the first time around. At the store, I actually picked it up, flipped through it, and then put it back down! What a dope. The first printing sells for as high as $34 after only a month of being on the stands! Sure it’s because of the “mistake” panel, but I’ve heard it’s actually a good read too. So I wasn't going to pass it up this time. Pretty small week... Luckily, the copy of Fun Home I purchased on eBay arrived, so I also have that book to tide me over until next week.
Happy reading and don't forget to bid on my items!!!
Another week, Another Fix!Posted Jan-10-07 16:08:02 PST
It's Wednesday already, and I haven't even finished reading all the books I purchased last week! It's nice to know I won't be going through any episodes of withdrawal for a while!
Here's a list of the comics I picked up today:
52 WEEK #36- 52 is getting pretty good. They've got me engrossed in all the ongoing storylines except the Ralph Dingby story. I'm tired of reading about him mourning his wife's death. BATMAN #662 BATMAN CONFIDENTIAL #2 BLADE #5- Apparently this is a Civil War tie in... FRIDAY THE 13TH #2- This book is sooo fun. It reminds me of being a kid and watching the old movies on HBO with my brother and sister STAR WARS LEGACY #7- I bought issues 1-6 on eBay a couple of months ago but haven't got a chance to read the series yet. I'm gonna try to read them all in the next couple of days.
A big THANK YOU goes out to bellbottoms1976 for supporting my habit. Without bellbottoms1976's purchase of my Sandman poster, I wouldn't have been able to buy this week's comics! You too can support my habit by bidding on my currently eBay listings.
My Ghost Rider movie promo baseball cap listing ends tomorrow. It has a couple of bids but is still a steal at the current price. Check it out, and place a bid!
My two other listings continue to gather watchers but have yet to get bids.
The Lord of the Rings keyring would be a great gift for any LOTR fan. I know there's a bunch of them out there! If you're a fan or you know someone who is, place a bid!
Also, if all the Oscar speculation surrounding Pan's Labyrinth for "best foreign film" comes to pass, the Pan's Labyrinth promotional necklace charm will become highly desirable to fans of the movie and Director Guillermo Del Toro. I suggest you buy it now, before the prices skyrocket!
That's all for now... Time to read! My week, so far.Posted Jan-08-07 16:05:44 PST Updated Jan-09-07 06:03:38 PST So far, this has been a good week. I've got plenty of comic books (my drug of choice) still to read, and my eBay listings are going pretty well...
Yesterday, my Sandman poster sold for a steal at $26.00! Even though I thought the poster would sell for at least double this amount, I’m happy with the sale. It should be enough to enable me to afford this week’s fix (I’ll have to look at the Diamond Distributor’s new comics list to be sure)!
Earlier today I won a copy of the graphic novel, Fun Home! Hopefully it will arrive quickly and I can judge for myself if it is deserving of the Time Magazine book of the year award.
In the meantime, my listing for the Ghost Rider movie promo baseball cap continues... The opening bid has been met, but I’m hoping the final sale price is a bit more, so I don’t have to worry about affording next week’s comic book releases. This promo is great for Ghost Rider fans, but even if you’re not a fan- EVERYONE CAN USE A NEW BALL CAP! Check it out, and place a bid!
I’ve listed two other movie promo items for sale also: Though these two listings don’t have bids yet, they’ve got a few watchers. So I’m pretty optimistic that with the help of some well-intentioned enablers or fellow addicts, these items will sell! I got my fix!!!Posted Jan-04-07 16:03:29 PST
Ahhh... that's gooood...
I just got my new comics and I can't wait to read them.
Along with the titles mentioned in my previous blog entry, I picked up several titles that were due to ship last week but were delayed due to shipping problems on the west cost. As a result of the extra titles, I spent a bit more money than expected.
Here's a list of everything I picked up today:
With my second eBay listing of the year failing to sell, and with the extra titles I picked up this week, there isn't much money left for next week's comic books. I'm a bit nervous, but I'd be more nervous if I didn't have a couple of aces up my sleeve:
These items are sure to generate enough moolah to finance my addiction for next week! So please, take a look at my items for sale and place a bid! You'll be bidding on some great items. And, more importantly, you'll be supporting my habit!
bmbcomics is The Comic Book Junkie!!!Posted Jan-02-07 16:01:08 PST Updated Jan-02-07 21:58:38 PST bmbcomics is The Comic Book Junkie!!!
...It's Tuesday, and I'm jonesin' really bad!
I need my fix!
It'd be a lot happier New Year if my weekly comic books were being released on Wednesday instead of being delayed because of the holiday!
Fortunately, I still have a reason to smile... My first auction of the new year was a success! Thank you devils.advocate, for supporting my habit. A more appropriate username couldn't have won! When I'm buying my comics this week, I truly can say, "The devil made me do it!" You are the epitome of the word "enabler," and once again, I thank you.
I had a hard time letting this one go, but something had to be sacrificed to allow my collection to grow.
I have two more auctions currently posted:
Ending Thursday, is a wonderful, US postage stamp/comic book amalgamation featuring Batman, by artist Jim Lee. This comic has been stamped and cancelled with a first day of issue cancellation mark, making the book a truly unique collectible.
Ending Sunday is a wonderful find I discovered over the holidays- a mint copy of The Sandman, Endless poster from 1992, by Sandman artist, Mike Dringenberg!
Both Items can be viewed by clicking on the "view items for sale" link located at the top left of this column.
Anyway... the books I'm purchasing this week include:
52 WEEK #35
ALL STAR SUPERMAN #6
CIVIL WAR #6
MIDNIGHTER #3
SUPERMAN CONFIDENTIAL #3
If I have enough money left over, I also plan to pick up a copy of the graphic novel, Fun Home. After Fun Home won Time Magazine's book-of-the-year award, what kind of comic book fan would I be if I didn't pick up this book? If you have a copy for sale, let me know! Also, if you have any other suggested titles I should be reading, I'm all ears...
Thanks for reading the first edition of The Comic Book Junkie! Be sure to add bmbcomics to your favorite buyers list, and check back frequently for new listings and frequent blog updates!
