About Me  | Archive - June 2007 Comic Con- one month and counting… and this week’s comicsPosted Jun-24-07 17:21:20 PDT Updated Sep-10-07 05:32:29 PDT  My favorite four and a half days of the year are almost upon us!!! Comic Con International: San Diego (taking place July 25-29) is the largest gathering of comic book enthusiast in the United States and is a hotbed of activity in and around the comic book industry.
To say the convention is fun and exciting (and a great way to beat the heat in July), is an understatement! With movie and television studios, toy manufacturers, vendors, book publishers and of course, comic book publishers (both big and small) all competing for attention, attendees are never at a loss for things to see or do. In fact, the single concern (other than crowds) attendees may have with Comic Con is the need to choose one awesome event over another!
Fortunately for me, as a San Diego resident, the event takes place in my own backyard and I don’t have to be concerned with hotel, airline, rent-a-car and other travel expenses. As a result, I’m able to live and breathe Comic Con for pretty much the entire duration of the event. It’s exhausting! But exhaustion, as a result of too much fun, is my kind of exhaustion! And you’ll get no complaints out of me.
As a junkie, I narrowly escape overdosing on my drug of choice each year at Comic Con. Sill, I manage to keep my wits about me, and aside from getting a lot of cool items for myself, I also pick-up numerous items to share with my eBay enablers. This year will be no different…
COMIC BOOKS I’M BUYING THIS WEEK…
BOYS #8- DC Comics dropped this book because of its “extreme” content, but its business as usual now that Dynamite Entertainment is publishing the title. If my mom knew I read this stuff, she’d be so disappointed. But it’s just soooo shocking and funny! I can’t resist! Definitely not for kids… FRANK FRAZETTAS DEATH DEALER #3 HELLBOY DARKNESS CALLS #3- Can’t go wrong with Hellboy. IMMORTAL IRON FIST #6 JACK OF FABLES #12 SUPERMAN BATMAN #37 TEEN TITANS #48

Welcome to the Wednesday edition of The Comic Book Junkie. To be honest, I was simply too lazy to do my usual Sunday post. Sorry about that. I saw Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer last Friday.
COMIC BOOKS I’M BUYING THIS WEEK…
BRAVE AND THE BOLD #4- George Perez’ art is so awesome, how could anyone NOT pick-up this book? CAPTAIN AMERICA #27 CONAN #41 FALLEN SON DEATH OF CAPTAIN AMERICA SPIDER-MAN INCREDIBLE HULK #107- World War Hulk was really good, so I’m gonna try the Hulk’s regular title. But I swear, I WILL NOT GET SUCKERED INTO BUYING ALL THE WWH TIE-INS!!!! Probably… JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #10- This book features the last chapter (of a 5-part story) of a crossover with the JSA. Awesome, AWESOME story (not to mention, beautiful art)! I don’t want it to end, but I’m excited to learn what’s going on. TRANSFORMERS MOVIE ADAPTATION #3 (OF 4)- Yeah… I’m reading this book. Yeah… it’ll ruin the surprise of watching the story unfold in the theater. But nothing can diminish how cool the Transformers are gonna look on the screen! Plus it’s a very well-done adaptation. Well worth a read…

Summer movie season is in full swing but it’s been pretty unimpressive up ‘til now. I was at the theaters for opening day of Spiderman 3, but so far, that’s the only film that’s been able to separate me from my money. COMIC BOOKS I’M BUYING THIS WEEK…
STAR WARS LEGACY #13 BATMAN CONFIDENTIAL #6- This series started slowly but is ending with a bang! Those who didn’t stay with the series are missing out! BLADE #10- Sadly, this series is ending with issue #12. FABLES #62 FALLEN SON DEATH OF CAPTAIN AMERICA SPIDER-MAN JUSTICE #12- finally… NEW AVENGERS #31- YOU NEED TO PICK UP THIS ISSUE! Don’t say I didn’t warn you… SUPERMAN BATMAN #36 WORLD WAR HULK #1- YAY!!! I hope this series lives up to expectations!

FEEL FREE TO SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS & COMMENTS AND BE SURE TO COME BACK FOR MORE! my first run-in with eBay’s trust and safety… and this week’s comicsPosted Jun-03-07 13:00:53 PDT Updated Jun-09-07 11:30:27 PDT I had my first run-in with eBay’s trust and safety department this week… Comic Con International: San Diego, is less than two months away, and in the wake of the announcement of show exclusives, I excitedly stated posting listings for some of the items I plan to pick-up. The listings gained notice and started receiving bids almost immediately. With the numerous inquires I was receiving, it appeared that these auctions were gonna go very well… Then I received the following message in my eBay inbox: “You know you can't sell an item that you cannot deliver within 30 days. I've tried it and have had Ebay warn me and remove auctions.” I had never heard of this rule, so I checked it out in the Help pages. Sure enough, sellers are prohibited from listing items they cannot deliver within 30 days of the end of a listing. Considering the fact that after 45 days of making a payment, buyers are no longer protected by Paypal, I guess this rule helps assure a buyer still has time to make a payment, receive the item, and file a dispute (if necessary) before the protection period expires. Soon after receiving the warning message, one of my listings was ended by eBay. However, my other listings for Comic Con were still active. It could be that only the one listing was reported and the other two were missed. To keep my account in good standing, I informed eBay of the other two listings, to allow eBay to end them as well (I would have ended the listings myself, but I’m not sure if I would have received my listing fees back). The following day, the other two listings were ended. I could be angry at the person who reported my listing, but then again, if my listings were allowed to continue, while other sellers abided by the rules, the situation would have put me at an unfair advantage. Instead of being angry, I’ll simply look at this as a learning experience. If you’re one of the people who bid on my cancelled auctions, never fear, the listings will be back in a few weeks. So be sure to check my listing often.
COMIC BOOKS I’M BUYING THIS WEEK…
DARK TOWER GUNSLINGER BORN #5 DETECTIVE COMICS #833 JACK OF FABLES #11 MIDNIGHTER #8- last issue's backwards storytelling was a neat twist. MARVEL ZOMBIES ARMY OF DARKNESS #4- I haven’t read the other Marvel Zombies comic books and I’ve never seen the Army of Darkness movies. However, this doesn’t detract from the enjoyment I’m getting out of this series! I may just have to track down the first series and rent the Army… movies. TRANSFORMERS MOVIE ADAPTATION #1- Speaking of movies… do I really want to spoil the Transformers movie by reading this adaptation before seeing the film? What do you think? Should I read it?
