Chuck, Slave Leia, ...and this week's comic books

For the second week in a row, my clairvoyance is working overtime!

Last week, I listed memorabilia from the Showtime Series, Dexter- then discovered the series was putting out a comic-book-themed episode the following week! Which, considering I'm "The Comic Book Junkie," was pretty ironic.

This week, I listed a S-W-E-E-T, Comic-Con exclusive, t-shirt and souvenir book featuring a H-O-T image of Princes Leia in the Return of the Jedi, Slave girl outfit (see book image to the left)- then a day later I’m watching the Halloween episode of the NBC series, Chuck, and there on the screen is Actress Yvonne Strahovski dressed as every geek-boy of the ‘80s, dream girl, Slave Leia (see image to the right)!
Either I have an odd sixth-sense about shows with single-word titles, named after the show’s main character, or I’m just a pop-culture fanatic who watches too much television.
Probably the later...

COMIC BOOKS I'M BUYING THIS WEEK…
ACTION COMICS #858- Didn't I just buy issue #857 last week? Yep! I did! But because the title is so off-schedule and late, here it is again. And I couldn't be happier, 'cause this issue is the debut issue for new regular artist, Gary Frank! Frank is one of the most under-rated talents in comic books. This issue would be a great jump-on point for new readers! If you've been wondering what the man of steel has been up to recently, I highly recommend this issue.
BATMAN #670- "Grant Morrison, please continue writing Batman forever"
JACK OF FABLES #16
MIDNIGHTER ARMAGEDDON #1- I may skip this book... It depends on who's writing and drawing it.
WIZARD MAGAZINE #194- no self-respecting eBay buyer/seller should pass-up reading the industry news and information offered in Wizard every month... True, the magazine can seem biased and self-serving at times, but the articles are entertaining and (in many instances) informing.

THANKS FOR THE PURCHASE…

My eBay pals, alex1226hondacrx and crisskil really came trough! I'll be thinking of ya'll this week as I head to my local comic book shop. Thanks again for the purchase!

Comic Book Connection- Showtime's Dexter... and this week's comics

Because my comic book buy-pile is so small (only two books!), I initially decided not to submit a blog post this week. Then I ran accross this news story, and didn't want to pass-up the opportunity to comment on the Showtime series, Dexter.

This week's episode has the main character visiting a comic book shop and I couldn't help pointing out that coincidentally, The Comic Book Junkie (me!) has a cool Dexter button and bumper sticker set for sale this week!

I was completely blown away by this series when I caught a few episodes during the Showtime free preview earlier this year. The show's suspense, black-humor, and unique premise is like nothing else on television.
...But I guess that's to be expected when your main protagonist ("yes, PROtagonist") is a serial-killer!
For a more detailed description of the show, check out the official website - where you can also watch the complete first episode of season-two. But don't blame me if you're unable to fight the urge to subscribe to Showtime afterwards...

COMIC BOOKS I'M BUYING THIS WEEK…

ACTION COMICS #857- This am part three of terrible Bizzaro story. Bizzaro HATE this story! Me NO recommend this book! *

SUPERMAN BATMAN #41

* This is my pathetic attempt at impersonating the backwards-talking villain, Bizzaro, from Action Comics #857. Those familiar with Bizzaro hopefully realize that despite what it says above, in actuality, I highly recommend this book!

THANKS FOR THE PURCHASE…

I'm a bit behind in thanking my gracious eBay enablers! Thanks go out to: bamforth01, alwaysurlady, sibs4, veteran1812, luxcrux, and doostig! Proceeds from your purchases allow me to continually receive a steady supply of new comic books each week! Thanks again!

30 Days of Night... Got Blood?

With less than a week until the release of 30 Days of Night, I thought I'd share another of the awsome sketches in my sketchbook, by 30 Days artist, Ben Templesmith!

This sketch and the one in my previous post were obtained way back in 2002- before the series blew-up! If I remember correctly, there was no wait to get the sketches. Now-a-days, you'd spend a good part of an hour or more, waiting in line for a sketch from Templesmith...

If you like this skech, you'll love the comic book. Check out my 1st print copies of the original 30 Days of Night series, on sale now!

These are great collectors items...

Hurry up and place your bid! Don't let someone else steal it out from under you!

SHOP VICTORIOUSLY!!!

30 Days of Night Vampire Sketch & This Week's Comics

How cool is that!?!

With less than two weeks until the 30 Days of Night movie adaptation hits theaters, I thought I'd share this awesome sketch from Artist Ben Templesmith. Templesmith's eclectic art perfectly complements Writer Steve Niles' disturbingly horrific story.

Looking at the movie's clips and trailers, it appears that the film sticks amazingly close to the artistic feel Templesmith established for the 30 Days franchise.

I can't wait for this movie! If you're a horror movie fan, it cannot be missed!

Check out the creepy clip below!

COMIC BOOKS I’M BUYING THIS WEEK…

BATMAN CONFIDENTIAL #10
FRIDAY THE 13TH SUMMER VACATION #2- "
Summer Vacation," humm? Well, almost. Not to late to be forgiven...
FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #24 OMD- I can tell you how the "One More Day" storyline ends- Aunt May lives, Mary Jane is forgtten, and Peter Parker gets his secret identity back... THANK GOODNESS!!!

JACK OF FABLES #15

UN-MEN #3- More than a decade ago, the Vertigo mini-series, American Freaks scared the pants off me! This book features many of the same creepy characters. Issue 1 didn't give me the same "This is horrible, but I have to look" feeling. But after listening to the artist on Fanboyradio.com, I've decided to give the book another chance.

THANKS FOR THE PURCHASE…

Thanks bama-rags for purchasing my Dave Matthews Band CD Case! DMB rock! Now you can keep all their CDs nice and cozy together :-) !!!
