My listing gets noticed ...and this week's comic books!Posted Apr-03-08 21:47:46 PDT Updated Apr-03-08 21:49:07 PDT If you're a comic book fan, you're probably familiar with Wizard Magazine. For those not familiar with the mag- Wizard is a popular magazine about comic books. I make it a habit to pick it up every month...
Last week, I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the latest issue of Wizard and saw one of my eBay listings prominently displayed in an advertisement appearing on the VERY FIRST PAGE!!!
The ad is for the comic book grading company, CGC. In the ad, CGC quotes a $217 selling price for a Near Mint (NM), ungraded copy of Miracleman #15, and then compares the price to a quote for a CGC 9.8 graded copy that sold for a record $899. The ad also gives the item numbers for the books, and when I did a search for the graded book (using item number 270203358348, from the ad), THE SEARCH LED DIRECTLY TO MY LISTING!!!
How 'bout that!
Anyways... on to this week's comics!
COMIC BOOKS I BOUGHT THIS WEEK…
I'm having a busy week, so I didn't get a chance to get my list out sooner. As a result, this is a list of the books I've already bought (Wednesday) as opposed to the books I'm going to buy...
ABE SAPIEN THE DROWNING #3
ACTION COMICS #863- With Superman at full power, this issue should feature the big fight I’ve been waiting for! AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #555- Chris Bachalo is the new artist on the next three issues of Amazing Spider-man. Bachalo was one of my favorite artists about 10 years ago, and I’m really excited to see what he does with ol' web-head! BOYS #17- I can’t believe Boys is already on issue #17! But, as always, I’m sure this issue will be good for a laugh. BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #13 DETECTIVE COMICS #843- From the looks of the cover, Batman villain, the Ventriloquist, is back. The Ventriloquist is one of the more absurd Bat-villains- which also makes him one of the more fun villains! KICK ASS #2- Issue #2 didn’t disappoint. Kick Ass expertly explores the unfortunate reality of super-heroic vigilantism. And the results are pretty gritty. LOGAN #2- I loved number one! This series takes place in Wolvie’s past, during WWII. I can’t wait to see if Logan survives the atom bomb by leaving Japan or despite being at ground zero of the bomb drop! My bet is on the latter. PROJECT SUPERPOWERS #2- I almost didn’t pick-up this book because the title doesn’t appear on the cover. What a bad selling move on the publisher’s part… SECRET INVASION #1(recommended read)- Could this week’s recommended read have been any other book? Who’s a Skrull? …To avoid online spoilers, I read this book immediately! It really lived up to the hype! Very well written and drawn!
Common all you guys who've been waiting to try out superhero comics... get this book! It's great!!!
ZORRO #2- After only one issue, I’ve already decided to commit to buying this book every month! It’s THAT good! Publisher, Dynamite Entertainment also publishes The Lone Ranger comic book, and I’m sure it’s only a matter of time ‘til a Zorro/Lone Ranger crossover. I can’t wait!!! …THANKS FOR READING!
