Obama 08

In this country vast numbers of people have a tendency to ignore politics and politicians. It's hardly surprising with the way that certain politicians seem less than trustworthy or misrepresent the system to better themselves. Voter empathy is rife. However, despite all this we cannot ignore the importance or significance of the present presidential race going on at the moment in America. This has profound repercussions for the world at large.

Do we want Senator McCain as President? Another war-monger. More years of the same Bush politics. More years of war, instability and fear?

Do we need another President Clinton in the White House (some might say, the same type of Clinton in the White House)? More lying, more underhanded politics and more "I'll do anything to stay in office" type leadership.

Or, are we ready to embrace change? Are we willing to allow the people a chance to speak? A change from politics controlled by special interests and lobbyists. A change that has never been imagined since the likes of JFK or dreamt of since the days of Dr Martin Luther King?

Someone not only ready to lead us out of Iraq but lead us into a more respectable and honest way of doing things? Real change, real hope and real substance.

The world is in the fierce urgency of now!

That change is Barack Obama. In my opinion he is the only person capable of REAL change.

Do not assume that because he's other there he's not important. Just look at the effects of George W. Bush as president:

  1. We have ridiculous oil prices.
  2. We have a housing market due to hit recession (some think it already is).
  3. Banks are lending less money for personal loans due to the credit crunch, as a direct result of the sub-prime market in the US.
  4. Mortgages are down from this time last year.
  5. British and American troops are dying in Iraq.
  6. Religious fundamentalism is on the increase.
The role of the American president is paramount, world wide. George W. Bush has not only proved this but emphasized its importance by the way that he has manipulated and tainted the office. He has NOT been a very good President (understatement, I know) Barack Obama will be a great President. He will change the way politics has manipulated the people. He will change the way big business and special interests dictate the market at the behest of the people.

Barack Obama 08 for President. As a UK citizen I wish I could vote.
