Use Second Chance Offers to Save Time & Money!

If you have more than one of an item you don’t have to wait until each runs in a full auction to make sales! eBay lets you make Second Chance offers to bidders who bid on your item but didn’t win for the highest bid they made. You can also use Second Chance offers if there was bidding but no bidder reached your reserve price. Not only do you have the opportunity to make a quick sale but with Second Chance offers you pay only final value fees (no listing fees) for the second (or third, or forth, etc.) items.

How to Decide What to Sell on eBay

Nearly every eBay selling is trying to find more items to sell. But the problem isn’t just finding places to purchase merchandise but also (and often even more important) figuring out just what to sell on eBay. In the long run, you need to be looking at the big picture. Remember, you are not selling your items in a vacuum - trends nationally and internationally will impact what sells and, potentially, your sales. If you want to do some thorough research you could keep an eye on the media to see what’s happening in particular industries or on popular culture. eBay, though, has pulled together some data on what it’s buyers are looking for and created eBay Pulse. In eBay Pulse you can find out what are the most popular searches overall on eBay and for a particular category.

eBay has also recently introduced it’s What’s Hot on eBay page. The eBay merchandising team combs trade magazines, gathers predictions from respected industry experts, and looks at eBay sales data to determine what’s in demand and displays here to help you with your inventory sourcing and merchandising decisions.

FedEx Shipping

As most of you probably know, USPS and UPS have deals with eBay which make them preferred shippers and integrated into eBay's Sell Your Item form and PayPal. At a workshop during eBay Live this year someone asked a FedEx rep when they would be included also. The FedEx rep just smiled, of course, since they would love to be but I imagine eBay's deal with UPS won't allow it so it will take a while before this could be negotiated. In the mean time, FedEx has worked on this from the other end. Their software ShipRush allows you to download transactions from eBay, PayPal, Amazon and Yahoo to print shpping labels. For more info checkout the FedEx website. Remember, for ground delivery, FedEx is often times cheaper than UPS. Also, for residential ground deliveries, UPS delivers Monday-Friday while FedEx delivers Tuesday-Saturday!

Ah, summer in the city...

Well NYC has been nice and toasty of late but we are getting a nice breeze as a strom rolls in tonight. Sales always slow down this time of year (end of school, vacations, moving, etc) so I'm taking some time to put together a list of things I need to do to get ready for fall sales. If you are a seller you might take some time before the holiday sales begin to take a look at where you are and what changes you might want to make (I know it's only July but most retailers have already done all their fall merchandise ordering and I've even have some Christmas sales this year!).

On my way home from eBay Live!

Had a 1pm flight from Midway to Laguardia. Arrived at noon to find my flight had been cancelled. Used all of my negotiating skills but best I could do was 5:35pm to Atlanta then arrving in NYC at 11:54pm and a $7 food voucher. Only other option was 3pm tomorrow. Can't complain as some people on the flight weren't even given any options for today. It was tempting to stay and hang out in the windy city for one more day but I have far too much to catch up on when I get home (including all the packages I need to ship tomorrow! Thank goodness I have my laptop and am able to get online. Now I just have to hope I get out of Atlanta tonight!
