I was one of the people who bought a copy of The Secret Affiliate Code just seconds after the launch, my intension was to buy it and review it for you on my site. I hoped to maybe find one or two good ideas for tactics I could incorporate into my own business, but to be honest I wasn’t really hopeful. We all know that most of the products released in the Affiliate Marketing / Make Money From Home niche are well-packaged guru scams. It is central to his system, yet he assumes everybody has experience writing articles and Blog posts. There is a time frame involved in product launches and if you are an inexperienced writer this could be a massive setback.

Introduction To Affiliate Marketing Part 2.

 

In this post I will go into more detail on a subject I touched on in Introduction To Affiliate Marketing Part 1.

 

Article Writing.

 

What are we referring to when we say Articles?

Well, Articles are literally any written content you post to the Internet, they can be Blog entries like this one, product reviews, eBooks or advertisements, amongst others.

 

Now let’s look at some of the reasons for writing your own Articles.

The main reason from our perspective is advertising. A well written article achieves several things. You are advertising your products, driving traffic to your websites, as well as building credibility with your customers and other members of your niche.

 

Another good reason for posting your articles is that links to your websites contained within the text, are recognised by Google and count as a back link . Over time the back links from your articles begin to build up, this can have an effect on your websites search engine placement.

 

Take a look at some of the articles I have posted to this blog, many of them contain links to products I am promoting. I hope all of them contain useful information that will help the reader improve their own online business, and they all contain a link to my main website. I have analysed my website referrals and the majority of them come from articles I have written.

 

So, you see this blog was free to set up, and every referral or sales I make from it has cost me nothing in advertising. Also readers of these articles are hopefully gaining some knowledge from them, therefore increasing my credibility with the readers and increasing my likelihood of website visits or direct product sales.  

 

Is Article Writing Difficult?

Most people have doubts about their ability to write quality articles, yes it is important to write your articles in a particular way, and yes they can actually be damaging to your business if you make a particularly bad job of them, but NO it is not difficult to do correctly, and you will see results in a very short time.

 

Things you should consider when writing your article:

 

• You need to keep a clear vision of what the article is trying to achieve, and ensure you do in fact achieve your goal by the end of your article.

 

• You need to think about who you are aiming your article towards. If you’re writing a Newbie’s guide to something, or offering tips for beginners, you do not want to use a lot of unexplained jargon, or go into too much detail too soon. In sort your target audience must extract some benefit from your article.

 

• Your Keyword placement, this is were it starts to get a bit more complicated. Your keywords are the phrases that you want the search engines to find and rank you on.  The difficulty is achieving the correct percentage of keywords within the content, without losing continuity.  Maybe more experienced Article writers do this manually but personally I use software.

 

 

Where to post your Articles

This is another common stumbling block. I am using Google as my example search engine as I often do, but the principle will apply to the others.

 

Google ranks some sites higher than others, and the relative strength of the sites that link to yours have an effect on how Google ranks your own site. It is therefore a good idea to post your articles on higher ranking sites whenever possible. Again I use software to distribute my posts to a number of different sites, rather than spend time placing each one individually. 

 

The Importance Of Original Content And How To Produce It.

Keeping your content original is vital! Google will scan each article and if it is found to be a duplicate of already published content it will penalise you.  This makes all your efforts pointless, as you will not see the benefits I mentioned earlier. Some site will refuse to publish an article that is too similar to other content they already have, and of course there is the issue of copy writing.

 

By all means cover a topic that other people are already writing about, but make the content of your article significantly different, or put your own spin on it.  With practice this becomes much easier. Using other good articles for inspiration is not only a good idea, it is something I would highly recommend. If you can find out which articles are popular on your chosen subject (I’ve got a tool for that as well), then make enough changes to them to make the content your own, you will have a much greater chance of success.   

 

Now, here is the cheat that will enable you to produce good quality content and have it published without having to be an expert in the subject, or spend any more than a few minuets of your time doing it.

 

I mentioned earlier a couple of pieces of software I use to produce many of my articles, this enables me to write quality content about niches I have little or no experience in, and then generate sales from those very same articles. This is a legal and widely used way to steal good copy and make it your own.

Six Figure Yearly has been around for a while now. It would appear the main concern people have regarding this program is prior to buying it you do not receive a great deal of information. The Biggest Marketing Tips For Affiliate Beginners.

 Part One – ‘Laser Targeted Traffic’.

 

 

The High Street Mentality.

 

If people can’t find your website, they cant buy your products. You must make yourself as visible as possible to your potential customers. However, this is not as straightforward as it may seem. People who simply click on, and then straight off your website are no good to anybody. You must advertise in a way that attracts genuinely interested customers, i.e. people who are actually looking for information on your chosen subject.

 

Think of it in physical terms, how often have you walked down a busy high street, seen something in a shop window and found yourself drawn into that shop? If the shop owner had not displayed his products in open view you would have kept on waking, and he would have lost a potential customer. With good Marketing skills the Internet is like being on every high street in every city in the world.

 

Submit your site to every search engine you can find, we all know the big ones, but you may be surprised at the results you get from a campaign run on one of the smaller search engines, after all the competition on there is a lot less.

 

 

PPC Advertising

That brings me to my next tip Pay Per Click (PPC). The essence of this is that you only pay when someone clicks on your ad and visits your site.

 

I will be using Google Adwords as my example for this post, because at the time of writing this they are the biggest search engine in the world. It is common knowledge that Microsoft intends to challenge this, so things may change in the near future, but that’s good for us because the competition may bring down the cost per clicks, anyway back to the point.

 

With Adwords you set a daily or monthly budget for your advertising spend, and you also set your maximum bid on selected Keywords. Every time somebody clicks on your ad the amount you have bid is deducted from your balance, once your balance reaches zero your ad disappears from the search engine until the next day, when the process starts over again. This allows you to control the amount of money spent on your advertising to a far greater extent.

The downside is that you pay per click, not per sale. So you must ensure that the people clicking on your ad are genuinely interested in your product. Think of it like the shop window we spoke about earlier, you don’t see a Bakery displaying Electrical Goods in the window do you? The idea is not to get viewers, it’s to get sales.

 

There has been a lot written about PPC advertising and how to minimise the browsers and laser target the potential buyers. I will be placing separate posts with tips on how to do this at a later date.   

 

Link Exchange & Back Links.

Link exchange works on the principle that another website, who’s content compliments yours, places a link to your site and you do the same in return for them. This helps to increase your credibility with the search engines, and may also bring new customers via the link. The downside is that you must be careful whom you partner with, if the content of the other site is too similar to yours you may loose customers to your partners.  If you find a site that you think would compliment your own, don’t be afraid to contact them and ask the question, but choose wisely.

 

Back Links are a hot topic at the moment, the reason for this is quite simple. Search engines look for links to your page as part of the process for ranking the content on keyword searches. The thinking behind it is that if other sites are linking to you then there is a greater likelihood that the content on your site is of value to the person browsing.

 

We can manipulate this system in several ways.

It is important to remember that however sophisticated the search engine spiders are they are still only machines. We can use links to our website in other Articles we have wrote, Blog posts, and even in our Signature.  They all count, and over time they build up, so use them whenever you get chance.

 

You will find companies who will offer you Hundreds or even Thousands of Back Links for a set fee. Be very careful before parting with your cash, the search engines are aware of this, and badly placed links on sites that have little or no relevance to your own, may even count against you. In my experience the back links will build up over time as you promote new products and enter into more online discussions. I will produce a separate post on Back Links and how to maximise the full potential of them in the near future.

Article Writing.

This is my final tip for Laser Targeting Traffic to your website.

It is really quite simple, you produce an Article, Report or Review on a related topic or product. Make it interesting, make it informative and make it original, basically make it worth reading. Insert a link to your website within the article and mention what your site is all about, give the reader a reason to come and view your site. Then post the article to as many places as you can find. The Internet is full of sites were you can place your articles for free.

 

The benefits of doing this are two fold, (if you have been paying attention you have probably already worked them out). You get a potential customer and give them a reason to come and take a look, just like our high street shop window, and you also get yourself another back Link to help increase your search engine rankings.

 

Good article writing is a skill all of its own, but don’t be put off, I’ve got a couple of tips for you on that as well.

You can view a video tutorial that will have you producing good content in record time. The toolbar has many other features, which if you are new to affiliate marketing may be a little advanced for your needs, but will defiantly come in very useful as your knowledge and skills develop.

If you feel comfortable producing good articles then why not take it to the next level and write your own eBook? The benefits of this are too extensive to mention in this already long post, but I will cover them in a separate article.
