What is 'The Elven Armour Project' - well, apart from being the thing that, for the past few months, has taken up the majority of my workshop time (and space) you mean?

Basically I was approached by a large group of players within Curious Pastimes's 'Renewal' system to provide armour for a them...

... but there was a catch (there always is isn't there?). The armour needed to cover three different 'styles' whilst retaining the same theme across them all.

The 'Ranger' suit needed to be lighter and have greater flexibility.

The 'Warrior' suit needed to portray a more robust and armoured look.

Then there were the beautiful ladies, who needed a certain degree of protection whilst remaining feminine.

Playing 'High Elves', and with a certain look already running through their tents, clothing and other props, the end design took a basic scrollwork and subtly altered it for the individuals taste.

Some had little leaves, others had flowers or simply leaf the scoll unadorned. Overall however, this was the theme that was to unite each suit, as the scrollwork was tooled as a border to each and every panel, of each suite of armour. If there was a bit of 'hard' leather (as opposed to suede), it had a scrollwork border.

For two of the characters, those of the Royal House, this was further adorned by highlighting the outer edge scrollwork of each breastplate in silver enamel.

This has been a delightful project to work on - and it is ongoing - as each piece is personal, with such a freeform design, it doesn't seem to get boring to work on. Six compelted suits in, only two more to go ...

... the group is still growing though!
