Last Day of eBay Contest - Are You in the Running?

Today's the last day in the first period of the guides/reviews/blogs contest. Have you worked on any new material with an eye toward competing and winning?

I posted a couple of new guides on coin photography which might have a shot. If I say so myself, I think they're pretty good, but I may be at a disadvantage due to some of the contest judging criteria, which award extra points for frequency of posting and activity within all three areas.

I don't post many guides and reviews. And, though I have this blog, I mostly use it to support the guides.

So, how about you? Do you think you're in the race?

2oldcrows_stl - I think you're definitely in the running with your informative blog. I found myself wanting to see some photos in it (I'm "camerajim" after all), but otherwise it looks and reads great. Good luck to you!

I tend to fall to the back of the pack when I enter into a race. So, I do write guides and reviews and have started blogging....but since I don't want to come in last, I choose not to enter the race! Good luck!

Actually, anyone posting a guide, review or blog entry during the contest period is automatically entered, so you already have entered.

There are 100 winners every two weeks so it's not inconceivable to come away with something. I'd like the $2,500 top prize, but I'd be happy with anything.

I have been hanging around the blogs a lot. I have seen you a couple times but haven't had a chance to stop and say hi :). I hope all is going well in the contest for you. I can't believe the two weeks are up already for the first period.

I have been writing review and guides since before the contest started. I write them with one purpose in mind ... to be helpful. If, on the off chance, eBay decides that my efforts are worthy of reward, then I will gladly accept. I sure could use the money. Who couldn't, right? I also participate in Wiki... that adds nothing to the contest efforts, but falls in line with my desire to be a contributing member of the community. Good luck to everyone!! I also wouldn't be offended if anyone voted on my coin photo guides, either.

probably not....

i don't think it's right to post a contest over who writes the most reviews. Because everyone knows people are just writing them just to write something to get in on the contest.

And when you stop to read most of them, they are just a bunch of BS. Poorly written with very little thought.

Well, the good news is that frequency plays a small percentage in the contest. Content, consistency, etc. are critical... But you are so right, iiapco. Remember when the contest first started and people were throwing anything up and then begging people to go vote on their guides? Those people didn't have a clue, first of all, that those votes meant nothing in terms of the contest. It sure did wreak havoc for a couple of days. Thankfully, all the flash in the pan, writing-to-win-without-a-clue has died down. :)

I would post photos if I knew how.....everytime I do it messes up the whole thing and then I lose everything ....lol.......secondly I take horrible pictures....lol

"wiki" is like wikipedia, a compendium of informational entries about anything under the sun. Anyone can post and entry but - and this is the key part - anyone else can come along and edit that entry, posting corrections or new info to it.

I started a blog, but I don't understand how to get a picture on there. If it's already on a discussion thread, then I can get it posted, but otherwise, I'm clueless. Where are step by step instructions for old stupid people (that would be me)?

Camerjim, I've enjoyed your writings and can say that they answer many questions, in a manner that almost anyone can understand. Congratulations on your win, and I look foward to more reading from you. May I offer something to work with; stand piece of the same milk jug up behind the the black block between it and the camera. This is some thing You can play with on highly reflective coins. It will scatter the light and the camera does not shoot through the light, for a crisper image. Just something for you to try.
