Most Recent Posts Half.com Earnings, LASIKPosted Jul-22-08 13:41:18 PDT I'm extremely happy with my July sales at Half. I have made seven trips to the post office this month (all on my bike, of course), meaning that I have sold seven items for a grand total of $64! For an unemployed person like myself, that is GOLD! And what's even better is that most of those items were textbooks that my dad found and gave to me, so it's pure profit. *** I can't wait till I get LASIK eye surgery. Unlike some people who want to wear glasses for the rest of their lives because they think the glasses say a lot about them, I want to go sans glasses. I've been wearing eyeglasses since I was in the second grade, and after more than twelve years I am sick of glasses. I especially hate how they get dirty all the time and they have to be cleaned over and over. And if I want to go swimming, I have to take them off so I am virtually blind every time I am in the water. And I hate wearing sunglasses because in order to wear them, I have to take off my regular eyeglasses leaving me blind. So why not wear contacts? Because it doesn't solve the problem. You see, I'm the type of person that believes that less is more. I want to be able to wake up in the morning and have perfect vision without needing to put anything on. What if there's an emergency in the middle of the night and I have to run out of my home, without my glasses? That would be a catastrophe indeed because I wouldn't be able to see anything. Or what if there's some hardcore crazy 2012 apocalyptic stuff that happens, and civilization disappears entirely and getting a new eye prescription every year becomes impossible? Do I want to be stuck with the same pair of glasses for the rest of my life, or risk getting them stolen by scavengers? No, I want to be prepared. Therefore I will get LASIK eye surgery as soon as I can. Some More Blogging UpdatesPosted Jul-21-08 14:20:57 PDT Updated Jul-21-08 14:21:53 PDT I think last week I experienced a little paradigm shift. One tiny but important part of that shift is that I decided that this blog will no longer be a "news and commentary" blog but rather more of a personal diary. So in other words, it's just gonna be me saying stuff. Kind of like what I am doing now. I'll bring up current events whenever it's relevant to what I'm thinking. All of these diary-status posts are labeled as "Journal Entry" and to view them you can click on the "Journal Entry" button in the Topics section. And for some personal updates, I really want to finish my summer goal of bike riding to the beach before I leave to El Salvador on August 8. I haven't been able to maintain the rigorous training schedule I had planned which means that in order to actually accomplish my goal, I will have to push myself a bit harder. The sixty mile round trip, as you know, requires some basic cycling endurance skills which is why I began training. The reason that I haven't been able to maintain a rigorous training schedule is because I've been waking up too late. Like, I really want to go on bike rides and be back at around 11:00 AM, right before the Southern California heat starts to warm up. Since my training rides are usually three hours or more, the latest I would have to leave the house is 8:00 AM. But lately I've been waking up really late, like 10:00ish. So I'm going to have to pay a visit to my good ol' friend Mr. Alarm Clock and am going to have to start going to sleep earlier. In addition to improving my training schedule, I'm thinking about going on a diet. I hate saying that I want to "change" my body by slimming down because that would imply that I am somehow unhappy with the way I am, which I'm not. But come on, doesn't everyone want to have six-pack abs? Hahaha...I take that back, there are some crazy people who work hard to not get a six-pack. But anyways, yeah...I'll be healthier and more energetic and blah blah blah. So I'm going on a diet. It shouldn't be too hard since I already don't drink soda. And I'm pretty good with the fruit intake level and the milk consumption level. I really need to work on the vegetables, however. I'm going to try to cutback on all junk food and try not to eat any bread/grains. And in general it's just smaller portions at meals. I Am A Blogger...on eBay?Posted Jul-21-08 00:12:11 PDT Updated Jul-21-08 00:12:58 PDT Since I've kind of slacked off this past month on the whole blogging thing, and since I will be in El Salvador from August 8 to August 23 (and thus unable to blog) I thought it was time to get back into the blogosphere. And what better way than to start blogging on eBay! Yup, I was exploring my eBay account and realized that I had an eBay profile page just waiting to be edited and updated, which I did. Check it out here:http://myworld.ebay.com/carlosanilber You can add applications à la Facebook, except there aren't really many to choose from. But one such application is the Blog Application! How fun! So I guess I might import the blogs on here to there. So now The Rivas Report can be read it three places: Blogger eBay But since I deleted my MySpace account, it can no longer be read on there. I kind of regret deleting it cuz now I can't read the blogs I used to read on there cuz those profiles are "set to private." Blast. |
