Most Recent Posts Feedback: The Detailed Seller Rating SystemPosted Mar-03-08 17:56:27 PST I really enjoy ebay, and I enjoy communicating with and serving my buyers.... MOST of them! I hate the star rating system for sellers included in Feedback... The Detailed Seller Ratings..... Why? Well.... Item Received As Described: I have no problem with this; however, human opinions do slightly vary; if a you, as a buyer, think the product is slightly different than described, it may be just a matter of opinion, but I am HAPPY to communicate with you if you are unhappy. Just CONTACT me! Also, sometimes, we human-beings MIGHT overlook some tiny little flaw. Trust me, I am never "trying to get one over" on anyone! How could that benefit me? I strive to get my customers to be happy customers.... REPEAT customers... I love those! Communication: Do impatient ebayers really believe that I sit in front of this computer 24/7? The answer: They think we sellers SHOULD! I recently received several emails, four, one each day, beginning Friday evening and the last one in on Monday morning... angry now... WHY aren't you answering my emails....yada, yada, yada. Well, I try to keep my composure (what some might think if they could hear me), and type a nice, friendly response... but.... HELLO! I don't work 24/7/365 AND it was the weekend! Although I do check in on ebay occasionally on the weekends and try to answer emails, I have a life, I have a family, I need a break. I usually respond to my emails on the same day... within a matter of hours, but sometimes during the weekdays, it may take up to 48 hours. Don't I deserve 5 stars? MY FAVORITE (just kidding!!!).... Shipping Time: Here we go.... I absolutely detest this one! Hate it! All my shipments go out within 2-3 business days OF CLEARED PAYMENT, excluding holidays and weekends, and under normal circumstances (ABNORMAL circumstances are: computer failure (wish I were more tech-savvy), printer issues, Paypal issues, MAYBE I've suffered a 3-day migraine, etc). Sometimes, I do get a little behind, BUT the majority of the time that I get shipping inquiries from buyers, they involve packages that went out ON TIME.... I've seen packages take up to 14 business days in transit... not my fault.... can't do anything about that! Have you EVER had a piece of mail take longer than expected? Sometimes, I wonder how these people, some of my buyers, live these perfect, flawless, never-had-a-piece-of-mail-take-loner-than-expected lives?? Wish my life was such "smooth sailin'"! Anyway... my MOST favorite (kidding again) buyer paid on day 14 after the auction ended, AND filed and item not received on the same day she paid. Hello? Just someone put on Earth to test my patience. How many stars do you think SHE left me? Lastly, when was the last time you ordered from a company online... Victorias Secret, The Gap, etc., and received the product within 4-5 days? I am a BIG online shopper.... it doesn't happen! I could go on and on here, but I'm sure this is getting a little boring, so onto another favorite (OK, by now, you KNOW I'm kidding).... Shipping and Handling Charges: If you weren't happy or agree with the S&H charges, WHY did you bid??? How can one leave less than 5 stars here? I mean, seriously; if you didn't agree with the charges, do us all a favor and DON'T bid! A buyer does not take into consideration: Packaging Materials: including the exterior package, the interior "wrap" to protect the item(s), the cost of the labels themselves, the ink to print the labels, the printer initial cost and maintenance that prints the invoices, information, and labels, TRANSPORTATION: The cost of gas to and from the post office, and our TIME (which I don't charge a penny for, but I am not opposed if some choose to be compensated a little for their time). I wish I could shop for everything online and just pay the cost of postage.... but that can't happen.... things cost money.... we have to pay for them.... and you better believe companies are charging you for "handling". They HAVE to.... they have to pay their employees AND make money to stay in business! Since this star system is in place, I sincerely wish that we could rate buyers by: Communication, Time it Took to Receive Payment, and Ease of Transaction. Some people just make life difficult. I think we sellers should have a bigger voice to let each other know with whom they might be dealing. Rather than having this option to rate the buyers, though, I just wish we could get rid of that silly little system! Buyers: Please be fair and reasonable SHOULD you choose to use the rating system. Take all things into consideration. We sellers try hard to stay in business and sell great products at great prices! We want to stay here. We want to serve you to the best of our abilities. We want to be kind and fair to you and ask (beg) that you do the same. We want this to remain a pleasant marketplace, and at the end of the day, I like to think that we are appreciated and treated fairly for our efforts! The rating system will not "run me out" but it surely is upsetting sometimes, and I not only ebay for the extra money, I do it for fun. I want it to be fun.... for all of us!
