Lady chokes bobcat

Just heard on the news that a bobcat jumped out and attacked a Jack Russel terrier.  The lady had to protect her dog, so she put her hands around the neck of the bobcat and strangled it.  The bobcat had to be put down, and now the lady feels bad about it.

Lady, I commend you for your efforts!  I think 'choking' would have been the last thing on my mind... would have looked for a stick, or load the gun.

wow..that took guts..i know i would do what i could to protect my dog..i think i may have went for kicing it in the head as hard as I could..not getting all close and choking it..YIKES!

the dog is family....I could see myself doing that.....sometimes there's just no time and no alternative you do whatever it takes to save the life of a loved one....she's a hero she just doesnt realize it.....that cat would have attacked something/someone else later. :o)

that's the 1st thing I think of is to choke out an animal if it were to attack me....at least I know it works!!!! I'd choke a dog if it was attacking, not that I look forward to that, but it's all about survival, nothing more!!!

We have bobcats around here.. along with coyotes. Our pets face danger everyday now.

Mankind has upset the balance of numbers ... numbers of animals...

It used to be the animal kingdom took care of itself ... its own checks and balanced.

There are actually more of some species today than a 100 years ago. Why ... the natural preditors have been eradicated ... or, man has put a ban on controlling the species and now the numbers have almost become unmanagable and are wreaking havoc on still another species ... it's a mess.

Here in Oregon they have restricted how you can hunt cougar ... I think cougar are gorgeous animals, but man has reduced its habitat and the big cats are now stalking our lifestock, our pets and our children ... a few years back a cougar was found talking children on a school playground.

Alas, we reap of we sow.

We don't really know what we would do if up against a situation like this until it happens. It's not something we are prepared for. Instincts and strength kick in fast.

The government released rattlesnakes, bobcats, and coyote's in this area. I can't leave my door open anymore.
