I do have other blogs that correspond with my off-eBay pursuits. Today, however, I am updating my online life, and I am ready to rant so here we go. DO NOT BUY AN OLEVIA LCD FLATSCREEN TV! A few weeks ago, we were in the midst of watching a DVD on our 32 inch flatscreen and it just shut off. No warning, no fade, and no weather or power surge. It just shut off. It would not turn back on. When I contacted the store where I bought it, they cannot take it back because the manufacturer's warranty is not expired. I contacted Olevia directly and had to go thru a whole bunch of paperwork. They told me they would call me back. No one did. I called back today and the rep told me to ship the TV back and if they couldn't repair it, they would send me a new one. The shipping fee is $150.00 and that is non-refundable. If the shipper damages the TV in anyway, they will not fix the TV and it is my loss. He told me after reciept of the TV it would be approximately 8 weeks before I would hear from them. I didn't like that idea so he offered me another alternative. Charge a new TV from them on my credit card, which they would send out within two weeks, and when I recieved it, then ship the broken TV back to them in that box, but I must pay the shipping fees again. Completely unacceptable. So I called around to local TV repair shops, dealers, etc, and NO ONE can get repair parts for OLEVIA brand Televisions. So, I am stuck with an $800 piece of wall art that is absolutely useless, even though it may just be a wire, or some other connection that is loose. If I try to repair it myself, it voids any warranty by them and the store where I bought the TV. So, for the next 6 months I have to look at a large flat screen that although the parts are mostly okay as far as I know, doesn't work. My advice to anyone reading this blog.. DO NOT BUY AN OLEVIA LCD FLATSCREEN TV! And tell all your friends as well, so they don't get stuck with a $800 piece of useless wall art! It's Entirely Too Hot!Posted Jul-24-07 03:21:52 PDT Two weeks ago, our temperature was 115 degrees, and it was so hot that all I wanted to do was stay in the cool air conditioned house. Then last week it dropped into the 60s; rained a little bit; and we even had a bit of a light show in the skies. It was nice if you can call rain and thunder and lightning nice. Of course, I do not live in the south where not only is it hot, the rain won't quit, and cars go floating lazily down the street, and animals and some people get to have a helicopter ride, just to get to dry land. I would hate that. However, yesterday, here in the northwest I had plans for yard work, mowing, fixing the fences, and pruning the trees and the bushes. And of course, the mercury began to rise again to over a 100. Hot, hot, hot! Have you ever tried to get a teenage boy outside to work when the sun is so bright, and the grass is turning white from the scorching effects of the heat? Not an easy thing to do. I did manage to get him out there for an hour, but we got so much more to do. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SALES!! For the most part it was politics as usual. A bunch of blowhards describing why they are the one who would do the best job spending my money. Blah, Blah, Blah! Polished answers even though the questions were supposedly live and unrehearsed. However, the fact that CNN had the videos submitted, and decided which video questions would be asked out of 3000, do we really believe that they didn't print out a list for the candidates of the topics that would be covered? It is all a conspiracy. Of course, within minutes of the end of the debate, the liberal media had declared Hilary, Obama, and Edwards the winners. Did they even watch the debates? I do not like liberals, or even most democrats, and it was the same dog and pony show it always is. But I do not think the candidates were serious with most of their comments. The only one I felt might be sincere in his responses, and seemed to have some sort of plan to get the troops out without causing horrible problems, was Joe Biden. I am not a democrat, but, if he were the lead on the ticket, I may actually vote for him. He isn't perfect. Who is? However, the idea that my only choice would be Hillary or Obama, with the slim chance they will still manage to sneak Edwards in somewhere, scares the snot out of me. Hillary is, was, will always be all about herself and her ambitions. She was in the white house for eight years, and didn't accomplish much. What makes her think that she has the knowledge to run our country, Obama is black. Now, I am not racist by any means, but what else does he bring to the table? He is a first time congressman. He hasn't done anything of note to qualify him for this position, other than the fact Oprah likes him. We all know she has a thing for the letter O. O. O. Maybe he would do better on Sesame Street. And Edwards? He paid $400 for a haircut, with money from his supporters. What is he going to buy with our tax dollars. He is a snake oil salesman. Always making it sound like he knows what is going on, while he says he is for the poor, he flys around to speeches in a private jet, and is building himself a mansion. Last night, his hair looked like it was cut with a lawnmower and he used some axle grease to slap it on his head. This guy is a phony in the worse sense of the word, and he is using his wife's alleged cancer to run for political office. If this is the only options we have, we should vote NONE OF THE ABOVE! Do you remember the Richard Pryor movie where he was running for the mayor of New York? (I think) There was so much corruption in the normal politicians that he convinced people to vote for none of them. Considering the choices we have in the democratic party, maybe that is our only real choice. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ This is what I think........to be continued... |
