Most Recent Posts Saturdays Paden City WV Auction FindingsPosted Jan-20-08 14:31:26 PST Good Day All, Well this is my first blog and I intend to share with you my fidings and the knowledge I gain as I build my Ebay business up. I went to the a.m auction here in Paden City WV on Saturday the 19th of January. With only about $75 to use the outlook wasnt promising but its fun nonetheless. I figured with forecasted highs in the teens the attending competition would be low I guess they were thinking the same thing lol! Starting off I walked in and cruised the lot quickly but only a few things caught my eye. One of which was what appeared to be a authenic Bull Durham print and a Winchester Rifles print both of which I was sure I wouldnt be able to afford. After the cruise I was lucky enough to find a seat in the very front, but later discovered it is a bad spot because with the runners up and around the auctioneer cant see you half the time and you cant see your bidding competition to size them up, so next time I will aim for the mid back seating. The first lot I bid on was a lot of about 20 Blue Atlas Mason Jars EZ Seal, Im bidding thinking he sees me ...it goes back and forth and it ends at $17.50 I think cool I won however, there must have been someone directly behind me bidding because when it ended I held up my # and he pointed to the guy behind me...I almost got up and left, pissed! Anyways roll on, the next item I bid on was a Newspaper from around 1914 that had a feature article about Ty Cobb the bidding went to and fro and I exited at about $15 and it went for $21. No biggie! After a Hamburger and a Dr Pepper with a quick smoke I got back into the action on the Bull Durham Print to and fro Im at $27 and I think well its about time to eject ....its hanging in, then the bidding excellerates to the $40 mark and Im gone. The winchester print was just out of my league. After an hour or so Im thinking well I would like to aquire a few items to list so up comes a lot of Cookie Jars so here we go......30,30, bidding on choice, give me twenty, give me twenty, do I hear 10 dollar bill, 5 dollars, 3 dollars, I chime in.....no competition bidding over at $3 dollars. Auctioneer says come up and pick...he says you better take em all I look them over quickly and say put them on #449. Good Buy Im Happy! Well after another half hour or so people really begin departing and theres a lot remaining. They are giving things away I pick up a Viking Swan at $3 and give it to my wife and 2 Biersdiel Steins Cheap! Well I finally had to go stuff to do...but if a person would have had $500 to blow they could have had about $4k-7k worth of Ebay Merchandise to list. After I get home to evaluate my findings I look and research low and behold I end up with 1 Shawnee, 1 Ransburg, 1 Metox piece , 1 what I think is a Napco and a few others, it appears that it was a great buy we will see what the Ebayers think lol! Until the next one take care, Happy ebaying and may you turn your finds into priceless treasures!!!! |
