Fashion Is My Life - Constance White

WAKE ME WHEN IT’S OVER & OTHER RED HOT CARPET TRENDS

The Oscars were a big yawn in the style department as well as in the awards area.

That is, if one overlooks the creep factor of dramatists Tilda Swinton and no, let’s not let her off easy… Katherine Heigl in a misguided imitation of Marilyn Monroe meets Dorothy Dandridge.

RED CARPET TRENDS worth doing and doing better than the stars were:

Red dresses

Strapless (again!)

One-shoulder

Draping

Fishtails

Jewelry – such as there was – statement necklaces

Radiant Oscar winner Marion Cotillard’s Jean Paul Gaultier dress was the most interesting look of the evening. It proved that it’s all about how beautiful the woman looks in the dress, not the dress itself.

Macabre runner-up Tilda Swinton.

Sure she looked creepy, but I loved it. I’ll take creepy over sleepy any day. After that lame parade, you just wanted to be tucked into bed and given a glass of milk.

And hopefully, Shaun Robinson, who hosted ABC’s red carpet show with Regis Philbin, has learned the hard way the perils of wearing form-fitting satin in the spotlight. Either that or she’s six months pregnant.

Red roses: Heidi Klum in a dress by John Galliano, Ruby Dee in Kevan Hall, Anne Hathaway in Marchesa,  Katherine Heigl in Escada, Miley Cyrus in Valentino, and Helen Mirren in George Chakra.

I totally agree on Tilda! She was a breath of fresh air albeit from the underworld :)
