Most Recent Posts Spring is REALLY here!Posted Apr-17-08 02:22:21 PDT WOW was it nice today! I am so glad that nice weather is finally here, so I can now work on getting nicer pictures done outdoors. I would have tried today but I found myself unable to leave my sewing room once inspiration struck. At least my sewing room has a lovely window that overlooks my parklike backyard so I still had a great view of this lovely day. I live in the suburbs in a quant quiet college town and it is a real blessing to see how many birds flock to this quiet little town. I bought a bird feeder with a little water reservoir so the birds get a chance to drink some clear fresh water, we only put aquafina in there, LOL, we spoil our birds! I can't help it, they give me so much joy I feel it is a priveledge to give back to them, even in this small little way. It is such a joy to look up from my sewing machine and see such a variety of birds, cardinals, bluejays, baltimore orieles, bluebirds, morning doves, sparrows and starlings. I just can't seem to put my fabric down once I get an idea for a new outfit for my beloved dolls. I am a perfectionist so I have to iron every tiny seam and overlock every hem! That takes time, but it is worth it. Professionally made garments hang better on the doll. It keeps me inside quite a bit, but the window which lets me see my birds makes it bearable. It was worth it to finish my new design, but tomorrow it is PICTURE day for my dolls! Thanks for the ideas everyone who responded to my first blog entry, I can't wait to try those ideas for outdoor photos out! Taking good picturesPosted Apr-07-08 22:48:52 PDT Taking good pictures is harder than it seems I am finding out. My items look great under my natural sunlight mimicking lights inside my house, but somehow my camera, no matter how much it cost (LOL) doesn't seem to capture all of the details. Maybe I am using too much light? I will have to research this. Three OTT lights cluttered around my items in the background is probably too much, LOL. Well, I will keep taking one hundred pictures of everything at all angles and then try to pick out the best ones. Being a perfectionist can be a curse at times, LOL, but my customers seem to like this part of me, when they comment on the fine details in my work. |
