Archive - July 2006 Ridiculous Items for Sale on Ebay - and Stupid Rules!!Posted Jul-19-06 08:18:28 PDT So what is the Most Ridiculous thing YOU seen on for Sale Ebay? How do you feel about people making Mega Bucks from Outragous claims, as Haunted this and that, or Tatooing advertizing on a Person's Body, or items that claim to be in the Shape or Appear to have an Image of something Holy on them??? And taking this one step further, What Rules do you think need to be introduced to keep the STUPID off of Ebay, if you think EBAY should be a Serious Market vs Entertaining, and OR what Guidelines do you think are too Strict, maybe something You would Like to Sell OR what Rules do you think Other Sellers or I should say in this case, Con Rip-Off Artists are taking Adavatge Of, that need to be Revised? Donating to Charity helps sales, BUT........Posted Jul-04-06 22:23:22 PDT I had a problem once, when trying to do an auction, where a part of the sale was going to go to the Tsunami victims, awhile back. My listing was removed for not folowing the format they require for charitable listings. Yes I can understand the need to have safety precautions, because many people are not honest and or have fake charities. BUT..have you read thier guidlines? Once a sale is over, they immediately take the Charity percent you pledge from YOUR account. Well.. what IF... A.) the item's bids go way higher than expected and you do Not have that much in your account??? B.) and or...they don't Pay you right away and meanwhile you're in the red because of other fees eating at your account as well? I have found, yes people feel better about themselves and enjoy even going higher than an item is worth, if for a good cause, and can increase sales and do a whole lot of people and organizations good, BUT it isn't GOOD if it puts your account in NSF's status. I think that part of thier rule-proceedure needs to be changed. Also, you have to choose one of Thier preferred Charity List pledges. Well, what IF, you wanna raise money for, say a church building fund, or your neighbor who has leukemia? Yes, you would have to furnish Ebay with the bank branch and account and or the 5013C is registered to, but I do think they need an open mind as far as to whom you can donate to. Just think of the fund raisers, EBAY could generate.. burn victims, cub scouts, local food banks for you own area's needy and MORE! so for now, sadly, I cannot do my part, to help others thru Ebay because fo this, and I really to think, that many more people Would, if these rules were changed. After all, you think your own budget is tight? What about all the charity organizations that must depend on Us, having spare change to offer???
Profits Shrinking??? Change the Fee Payees!Posted Jul-04-06 21:59:21 PDT Now days the market is tight. So, I try to keep my item every cheap. Since Postage rates have gone up, and the price of gas to go to the post-office, paying Listing and relisting fees, All taking a chunk out of any profit left. I find that also being charged for when a customer wants to use a Debit or Credit Card, only leaves me with Pennies. Since Sellers offering the Buyer the Option of multiple forms of Payment, I think the Buyer, should be billed the PayPal fees, Not the Poor Seller who is already being gang-gonged with costs. If they choose Money Order, they have to pay to get one, right? So why not pay to use thier Bankcard? They only other option is to raise our item's cost, which then, slumps sales. Why should the Seller have to pay All the costs? What do You Think? Ideas to help increase sales and listings!Posted Jul-04-06 21:48:24 PDT I know everybody has bills to pay. Employees, ISPS's yada yada. But Ebay used to have some kind of reduced listing special almost every month, which encouraged sellers to create a large amount of listings to stimulate sales, which in turn, everyone gets a little profit. Now it is like once every 2-3 months, Sellers are offered a special. It would be nice to have more frequent offers OR make relisting a previously posted item FREE Untill it SELLS. I have many items that I have listed so many times, even if I Did sell it, I would be in the RED. I am making a fraction of what I did last year. And when I do List, I have to pick and choose. Ebay used to be FuN, but as a Seller is becoming very dissappointing. I keep my listings simple, I don't need discounts on multiple photos, gallery, backgrounds, JUST listing Fees. How about it Ebay? Help stimulate the economy like it was in 2004-2005. |
