Prototypes:

Prototypes are highly sought out by collectors of Star Wars action figures on a global
basis. It is nice for one to have a version whether in pieces or fully assembled as seen above for a collection. If you want a one of a kind Star Wars item for a collection, a Prototype is the way to go. It also is a nice investment.

A Prototype is a item that is not released or sold to the general public. When Star Wars toys were first manufactured back in the Vintage era (1977-1985), some of the designers would take home samples, place them by their home computers or keep one in the car on the dashboard.

Times have changed since some of the manufacturers now search employee's bags priori to leaving the establishment to keep the honest, honest. However, there are still items that find their way to the general public. Perhaps some saavy individuals struck a secretive bargain with the manufacturers? We will never know.

The Star Wars Unleashed line should not be confused with The Force Unleashed (November 2007 new release) line of miniatures. Feel free to utilize this list to complete your collection as one can find these items on ebay quite often. I have randomly selected 10 sealed characters from my personal collection and have them here with a brief description about them as well. Do enjoy the Blog:

Clone Trooper (Red) 2004

The red marking of a Clonetrooper indicates that of a Clone Commander who commands companies of 144 troops (4 Platoons). All Clonetroopers were genetically molded after Jango Fett the Bounty Hunter.  We see Red striped Clonetroopers throughout Attack of the Clones, Episode II and Revenge of the Sith, Episode III.

Clone Trooper (White) 2004

Clone Trooper comes with a Black Rifle. Standard basic Clonetrooper born on planet Kamino genetically created for the Republic by Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas. The Battle of Geonosis was the first deployment of the Clonetroopers as well as the start of the Clone Wars. Starting with rescuing what was left of Mace Windu's Jedi Strike Team on Geonosis, They fought many a Geonosian Warrior forcing their retreat. Soon they were spread throughout the galaxy to engage the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

Armies were led by Jedi Knight Generals accompanied by Clone Commanders designated by the Yellow striping on their armor. Many clone commanders were placed into the ARC Training Program and became ARC Commanders, this allowed them to specialize their armor and add to their standard kit. They took names to replace their numerical designations.

Some of the most accomplished and superb examples of the ARC Commander program:

  • Commander Gree served with Jedi Master Luminara Unduli and Jedi Master Yoda
  • Commander Bakara, who served with Jedi Master Ki-Adi Mundi
  • Commander Cody, who served with Obi-Wan Kenobi throughout the war
  • Commander Bly, who served with Jedi Knight Aayla Secura

They eventually carried out "Executive Oder 66" by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine which made them turn on their Commanding Generals. This brought and end to the Jedi Knights and the Republic as Supreme Chanancellor Palpatine proclaimed the birth of the Galactic Empire. The Clonetroopers became the Imperial Stormtroopers Corps.

Darth Maul 2002

Darth Maul was a Zabrak from Iridonia. As a young infant, he was kidnapped by Darth Sidious from his parents and trained in the ways of the Sith. An apprentice to Darth Sidious who was used as an Enforcer to deal with the Black Sun and its members, hunt Jedi amongst many other tasks.

Darth Vader 2002

Born Anakin Skywalker, son of Shimi Skywalker, father unknown. Freedom from the slavery of Watto the Toydarian dealer of junk on planet Tatooine from Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn over a bet on Anakin winning a Pod Race. Obi-Wan Kenobi's Padawan learner with a Midi Chlorian count higher than that of Jedi Master Yoda himself. Seduced to the dark side of the "Force" by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine/Darth Sidious.

There is a variation of a Red carded Darth Vader of this item.

Darth Vader 2002

Darth Vader tries to seduce his son, Luke Skywalker to the dark side of the "Force" by stating that only together, they can bring an end to the useless conflict between them and together, they can rule the Universe as father and son. Some considered Vaders words as treason against the Empire, with no backbone like spineless jellyfish, all they did was what they did absolutely best, nothing for who would mention any ill words towards this Dark Lord of the Sith?

Darth Sidious

Once an apprentice of Darth Plagueis the Wise who knew the ways to restore the dead back to life by manipulating the Midi Chlorians in a body. Darth Sidious killed him in his sleep and secretly obtained the knowledge for himself. Little did the Republic suspect that Supreme Chancellor Palpatine was Darth Sidious orchestrating the wars behind the scenes.

It is the knowledge of Padme Skywalkers inevitable death that Sidious utilizes to sway the young Anakin Skywalker to the dark side. Sidious as Supreme Chancellor Palpatine reveals that his knowledge can save Padme. Anakin chooses joining the dark side for saving Padme. Love indeed was his motivation, all though he did not realize his mistake for in a fit of rage, he applied a "Force Choke Hold" on Padme at planet Mustafar and made a bold wrong statement alluding that she was having an affair with Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Ig-88 Bounty Hunter  2004

An escaped Assassin Droid who with his bretheren turn on the very scientists that create him by killing all of them. His exploits impress Lord Darth Vader who sends a message for IG-88 to join Vader on board the "Executor", Vaders Flagship Imperial Destroyer along with several other Bounty Hunters in the Empire Strikes Back to find the Millennium Falcon and its occupants.

Senator Padme Amidala 2002

Padme comes with Black Rifle, Chain and Brown Base. She was a young Queen of Planet Naboo who soon became involved in having to deal with Viceroy Nute Gunray of the Trade Federation who blockaded her planet. After the Battle of Naboo, Queen Amidala became Senator Padme Amidala of Naboo. She fell in love with a young Anakin Skywalker and the tow eventually married even though this was forbidden for the Jedi to marry.

Mother of the twins: Luke and Leia Skywalker, she died on planet Alderaan for once she found out that the love of her life, Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader, she gave up the will to live. Her last word to Obi-Wan Kenobi were that she still felt good in Anakin.

This item was recalled initially by the manufacturer since a lot of parents complained  that the breasts on the figure were rather large or perke. Hence, the nickname by collectors: "Perky Padme".  This item is still currently available on the market and averages around $20.00 to $30.00 for a Mint in Package (MIP) action Figure.

Tusken Raider (Sandpeople) 2004

The Raiders are said to be of an ancient race who at some point in history possessed advanced technology. When Tatooine had lush jungles and oceans, they were a major power in the region. The creators of the Star Forge, the Rakata, conquered the Tuskens, and mined their planet exhaustively. After a virulent disease weakened the Rakata, the Sand People saw the opportunity to strike by sabotaging their fleet. In retalliation, the Rakata bombarded the planet and Tatooine became a desert world as we know of it now.

The Tuskens surrvived by hiding in a system of artificial caverns carved by the archaic Tusken race. They were isolated and trapped on the barren planet. Once the "Builders" (the Rakata) lost power, the Tuskens abandoned most technologies, poisoned their natural resources to prevent other species from having an interest in their planet and conquering it. However, the planet was conquered many times over the following millennia, though the conquerors frequently left it after a short period of time due to the atomic instability of the metals in the planet. The Sand People are known to be easily frightened, but then return in greater numbers.

Asajj Ventress 2005

Ventress originally came from the planet Rattatak where her parents were farmers. Warlord Osika Kirske whipped her a lot which made her cold hearted. He killed her parents when she was at a young age. She barely escaped. She encountered Jedi Master, Ky Narec, who crashed on Rattatak. Kirske hunted them both so they joined forces and Narec trained her in the ways of the "Force". Kirske killed Narec before she could become a full fledged Jedi Knight. She was very skilled as any Jedi and because she could not control her anger, she developed a hatred for the Jedi and was mad that her mentor abandoned her all though he was killed.

The second time that it was offered on the back of the Carded Star Wars Action Figures that were sold throughout Stores. The first Carded Star Wars characters were sealed in small clear plastic bubbles or blisters as they are called on a Cardback now referred to as a 12 Back. What is a 12 Back? Well, the answer really is simple, take a look at the back of the card and just count the characters on it. If it has 12, it is a 12 back and so on.

Star Wars Display (fully assembled)

Send your name, address, zip code and proof-of-purchase seal (shown at right) from 2 Star Wars Action Figure packages alone with $2.00 to:

Instruction Sheet

The Grey Display Stand came with a slot in the back of it for the cardboard backdrop which depicted the Death Star and a Space Battle between X-Wing Fighters & Tie Fighters. A thin strip was included for the front of the stand which instructed kids where to place their first twelve (12) figures:

  • Stormtrooper
  • Jawa
  • Death Squad Commander
  • See Threepio
  • Darth Vader
  • Ben Kenobi
  • Sandpeople
  • Luke Skywalker
  • Chewbacca
  • Han Solo
  • Princess Leia
  • Artoo Deetoo

As for the promised action, each of the three (3) black levers in front turned the bases of the four (4) figures giving them at least limited movement. Each base had two (2) foot pegs to hold the Action Figures in place. I recall our first Display back in the late 1970's . We had a lot of fun putting my Stand together along with my older brother. The parts included in the box reminded us of Legos. Be sure to check out my other Guides in regards to rare Vintage Star Wars action figures. One can still find this item either loose or still in the original box on ebay.

The "first 12" were also featured in the Star Wars Collectors Case which had an insert showing all of them. The following link will navigate you to my Star Wars Vintage Action Figure Cases ebay Blog.

Shadows of the Empire Boba Fett's s Slave I Spaceship

The Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire was a multimedia project created in 1996 by Lucasfilm Limited. The original idea: Create a Interquel which is a story between both the movies:
  • Empire Strike Back, Episode V
  • Return of the JediEpisode VI

     In 1996, the
Shadows of the Empire line of action figures was released from the story line of the multimedia project such as Dash Rendar and Prince Xixor as well as some new vehicles. This is one of the smaller lines of action figures for collectors to obtain. The cards that hold the action figures are know as "foil cards". To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Star Wars, "foil cards" were introduced during the Power of the Force line of action figures.

Box Description:

Everyone in the galaxy knows that a good bounty hunter must have a good ship. For Boba Fett, the most notorius and fearsome hunter, that ship is the Slave I, a Kuat Systems Engineering, limited-production high-speed Firespray-class craft.

Fett has customized the outdated starship, stripping it down to bare essentials and intricately rebuilding it to be one of the fastest vehicles in the galaxy. Slave I has tremendous sublight speed and Class One hyperdrive capabilities. Often, Fett will maneuver his ship to arrive at a destination seconds before the target of his hunt arrives.

The magnetically polarized hull allows it to pick up electronic signals and pulses in a large range; it also hides the ship from sensor scans. Reinforced plating and contact ray shielding protect the Slave I from enemy attacks, while a variety of weapons provide lethal firepower.

The ship's impressive weaponry includes twin blaster cannons, an ion cannon, a concussion missile tube launcher, and a tractor beam projector. Two proton torpedo launcherssend out homing beacons and S-thread trackers mounted on dummy torpedos. Combined with its telemetry systems and signal devices, these trackers allow Fett to pursue his prey at all times.

The cargo hold of the Slave I has been converted to a top-security holding area, with shielded force cages and concealed weaponry. It was in this hold that Fett put the carbonite block containing Han Solo, after the hunter tracked him down for Darth Vader and Jabba the Hutt.

Electronically linked to his ship by circuitry inside his helmet, Boba Fett sees the Slave I as an extension of his power. And for those who have been on the wrong side of the hunter, the power of the Slave I and its owner is a terrifying thing.

Additional information from my website archives:

What is unknown to most is that Boba Fett included several key features not revealed in any of the comic books by Dark Horse. Then again, I choose not to reveal trade secrets in regards to one of the most famous Bounty Hunters who was taught by the best Mandalorians in the art of warfare.
