Shipping Damage

YOU JUST RECEIVED YOU NEW PURCHASE FROM EBAY AND IT BROKEN!!!!

What do you do????

This is one of the biggest nitemares we have everyday.  As a maker of display cases you do everything you can to make sure everyone gets there item in one perfect piece and unfortunely the shipping company broke it after taking every step not to have it broken.

Thanks for insurance.  Most shipping  companies offer insurance up to $100.00 per package. If item is over $100.00 there is a small charge for the additional insurance and it is well worth it.

If a item does come broken, contact the seller as soon as possible. Most shipping companies have a policy of limited number of days to report damaged item. Do not become a face in the crowd.......if damaged email, or call as soon as possible.

After I contact the seller what next?

After contacting the seller, the seller is going to contact the shipping company. Usually the shipping company requires the shipper to file a claim. (Unless USPS) At which point the shipping company will examine the claim  and determine if they are going to pay the claim. During this time the company may want to pick up item from buyer at shipping companies expense. So the next thing for you to do is package all contents back into box.......DO NOT THROW AWAY ANYTHING!!!!  Shipping company will usually pickup item in 5-10 business days.

Why does it take so long to process a claim and get refund or new item?

In most cases the seller will do everything to make sure buyer gets item sold to them which may include a refund of purchase price if seller cannot make or get another item. Unfortunely in our case this can take a bit of time to get new replacement items out. We are small manufacture and in a competitive market  have very low margins. Most of the time we have to wait until the shipping company issues a check for damaged item to us. It sounds crazy, I know, but during a christmas rush we can have $1000.00 -$2000.00 of damaged items out at once and that takes away from our ability to build cases on a timely fashion.

 

WE know damage claims are a pain and trust me nobody wins when it comes to a broken item. It slows us down and ties us up with paperwork and a lot of followup calls to shipping company. It is very disappointing to you because you wanted/needed your item yesterday and you do not have it. We just have to make the best of a lose / lose situation to make sure everyone is happy in the end!!!
