Archive - October 2006 Happy HalloweenPosted Oct-31-06 16:44:55 PST The sad part of living in the country is few or no trick or treaters. The only one I am expecting is our fire chief to pick up funds raised at a recent fundraiser. I wonder what he'll think when I send him with a bag of gummi body parts? I always buy candy just in case I have a rush of children. If I do not give them away, I know I will eat them. I wonder how many calories are in a gummi eyeball? Store Promotion ideasPosted Oct-29-06 15:25:38 PST Well, I've been working on getting our eBay store name out on the web. I've been bartering for advertising and submitting advertising at free sites like this one: I'd always be happy to hear of more promotional ideas. Almost HalloweenPosted Oct-27-06 19:57:23 PDT Updated Oct-27-06 19:59:14 PDT I'm shivering as I type tonight. Our church held its annual "Trunk or Treat" this evening. While some families were busily setting up and decorating their trunks and tailgates, Leo and I gave wagon rides through the woods. The darker it became, the colder I became. My thermostat here at home reads 41 F, so it was a bit chilly. It was lots of fun, though. I love to see the kids giggle and squeal as Leo pretends to stall out the tractor. I'm sure there were 300+ attending, so we had lots of loads to take on the 15 minute trail through the forest. And speaking of Halloween, we still have several vintage Gurley Halloween candles and many other vintage Gurley candles under the holiday section of our store. 8 Years on eBayPosted Oct-24-06 21:46:47 PDT Wow! It's hard to believe its been that long! If Our eBay business was a child, it would be in the second grade and reading and writing. The time has flown by. Oh yes, things have changed for our eBay life and for eBay. I think that our first few listings did not even have pictures! I frequented the antique board and learned so much about eBay and HTML there. I don't get there often enough now, but it is fun to see that some of the same crew is still there. In the early years, everything sold! Leo used to joke that I could sell anything. Now that eBay has made antiques and collectibles worldwide trading, there isn't such a regional supply and demand flow. What used to be uncommon can usually be found on eBay. We have to work much harder to find bargains and unusal items to make available to our customers. We didn't always sell automotive and mechanical items. Leo didn't get into the act until a few years ago. He hasn't been listing anything recently, but we hope to have more of his items up soon. We have been so busy cleaning out several estates, that he just hasn't had time to get to his eBay work. I still get email about once a week asking where he is. Currently, I've been busy sifting through items from several estates and auctions and trying to get them listed. We are also selling off leftover new-in-package Thomas the Tank Engine items for my brother-in-law in Missouri. Lots of holiday and gift items up for grabs and many available to "Make an offer" so feel free to go shopping in our store! I'm listing new items almost daily. |
