Ebay Digital Download Pages - Make Yours Sell!Posted Mar-18-08 03:07:19 PDT Updated Mar-18-08 03:08:44 PDT
Ok today I'd like to talk about your Ebay downloads, more specifically
your download pages and why you must optimize them properly for maximum
profits.
I've seen many Ebay sellers that just provide a link straight to their
ebook zip file. This is WRONG. You need to create a page that your customers can download their purchase from. That way you can add upsells or a mailing list sign up form or Adsense adverts or even Clickbank products related to their original purchase. Better still you should have ALL those things or at least one or two. If you are selling your products at $1 then your profit margins are really small and you will soon become disillusioned. If you have a download page with higher priced items on it it will help increase those margins and make trading on Ebay a better, more profitable experience. Lets have a look at one of my download pages: http://www.djrichardfenn.co.uk/dlg/download.php?r=manualblogtest&p=42. Now I use DLGuard to handle my Ebay downloads but the principals of the page will be the same. At the top of the page I have a graphic thanking the customer for their purchase. The customers details on the left hand side are inserted by DLGuard automatically so that part would not be relevant to you if you don't use it. It also asks the customer to checkout the special offer I have for them. The next part of the page has the download link and below that a link to instructions on how to download the product just in case someone is not sure on how to do it. Remember to make it as easy as possible for your customer to download their purchase. Below that is the special offer. On this particular download page it is for my free 26 part ecourse on how to create a best selling ebook. You'll see that the customers name and email is already inserted into the form (another feature of DLGuard). All they have to do is click the 'Send FREE Ecourse' button to join my list. Just below the sign up form you'll see a link that says 'Powered by AWeber'. This is my affiliate link to AWeber. If someone clicks that link and goes through to AWeber and signs up for an autoresponder account I will get a commission for it. Then below the sign up form are some Adsense ads. If someone clicks on these I get a small amount in commission too. Yes it may only be a few cents a click but as the Tesco's TV advert says 'every little helps' and it increases the amount of profit I'm making on my Ebay listings. Lets look at another download page: http://www.djrichardfenn.co.uk/dlg/download.php?r=manualblogtest2&p=282 This one is for a World Of Warcraft strategy guide that I purchased with resell rights. It also came with a download page that I've edited with my affiliate (Clickbank) details for the products and added into DLGuard. Lets look at a few screenshots just to show you these things work: 1. My Ebay members folder in Outlook Express for Mon-Fri last week - 23 new members
2. My AWeber 'new subscriber' emails show me that 12 of those subscribed from my download pages, 5 from my Ebay 'About Me' page and 6 from my blog. I can now market my other products to these new members and generate extra sales that way too. Of course I won't do it straight away because I like to provide lots of value and free stuff first but even in the free emails for my ebook ecourse are links to other products. There are also links to the whole ecourse which can be purchased in the form of an ebook for $7.00 for those who want the whole course straight away. Do people buy it? See the image below:
3. Below is a screenshot of my Adsense clicks for the download pages. Now I know you maybe thinking 'ohhhhh 61 cents big deal' but not all of my download pages have Adsense on AND they are right at the bottom AFTER my sign up form. If they were in a different place on the page say at the top or down the side then it would be more but it proves people do click them.
4. Upsells - After someone confirms they wish to subscribe to my mailing list they are transferred to a webpage that thanks them for subscribing and shows them an offer for a collection of ebooks for $17.00. Does anyone purchase this offer? See screenshot below:
I hope you've found this blog post useful and maybe even inspiring. Most of all I hope you will start doing the same with your Ebay download pages because IT WILL bring you extra profits. If you'd like an ebook showing you how to list digital products on Ebay click here (don't worry it's free). If you'd like a download page template to use for your Ebay sales click here (again this is free). Richard
