Most Recent Posts "Parts Car" and the restoration hobbyPosted Jul-28-06 09:12:45 PDT What is up with the policies?? "eBay policy prohibits the mention or discussion of title in a listing description unless the title accompanies a fully functional motor vehicle. Fully functional vehicles listed with clear title must be listed in the appropriate flat fee category." This must be included in all parts car listings.. “This vehicle is being sold for parts only and is not operational or street legal. Therefore, upon purchase, it will need to be either towed or trailered. eBay encourages its members to learn about their state laws governing vehicle sales prior to the sale or purchase of a vehicle.” You can't mention that you have a title showing you are the legal owner?? How can one buy with confidence when they can't be told that the buyer has legal rights to the car?? If you try to dispose of a parts car after taking the parts you need, YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE TITLE. Otherwise scrap places won't touch the car with a mile long pole... With all of the hot rod shows on TV now, more people are getting into the resto rod hobby, and miracles can be done with 'totaled' cars. If someone wants to buy a basket case to invest tens of thousands of dollars in, why can't they know the car does have a title so they have one less worry in the rebuild?? I have had friends that had listings yanked for parts cars because they mentioned the VIN code! The VIN number will tell you a lot about the car, a lot more than the average joe knows about it! You can look up and find out what engine, transmission, and rear end it should have, along with the original paint color, interior options, and more! If you are buying it for parts for yours it is nice to know if it had the same options! Or for restorations, I have heard of rolling chassis bringing over $250,000 just because of what options that car originally came with! Other listings have been yanked because you mention the engine runs! Ok, so the engine runs... If it is not safe to drive, it should not be sold as a passanger car! Why don't they have a seperate catagory for "Rebuildable" cars with lower rates then?? If they don't want you to sell cars that you can rebuild and the car you are trying to sell is only worth maybe a hundred or two in its current state, WHY SHOULD YOU HAVE TO PAY $80 TO SELL IT??
"Use The Yellow Button"Posted Jul-28-06 08:21:19 PDT This one really gets under my nails.. WHY?? Give us their email address! No one goes into my messages to check their email, they use their own provider! I don't want to have to log into eBay just to send a response to a question... and if they need a picture I can't send it through my messages! Catagories (continued)Posted Jul-27-06 08:51:42 PDT Who comes up with the catagories?? Definately not the seller, not collectors! Example.. in Hot Wheels they have: Accesories, Contemporary, Modern, Vintage Do they not realize the Hot Wheels has used the same casting on some cars for nearly 30 years and have NOT changed the date on the base?? Do they not realize there was a series called "VINTAGE"?? Ok, onto subcatagory MODERN.. (1980 to 1989 according to eBay) there is: Blue Card, Custom, First Editions, Monster Jams, Pavement Pounders, Promotional, Racing, Treasure Hunt, Mixed Lots, Other. Blue Cards first came out in 1989 or 1990 and were issued up until the mid 90s.. FIRST EDITION didn't come out until the 1995 series.. Same with Treasure Hunts! The RACING series started in 1997. Monster Jams and Pavement Pounders are even newer yet! Go into CONTEMPORARY (1990 and newer according to eBay) there is: First Editions, Monster Jams, Racing, Treasure Hunt, Mixed Lots, Other. Where is the blue cards?? Why isn't there a section for New Redlines?? The RLC cars are very popular.. at least have a LIMITED EDITIONS catagory! What about multi-packs?? 5-Packs and Gift Packs deserve their own catagory! Customs.. don't people make customs out of the newer cars?? OF COURSE THEY DO! The VW Van wasn't released until 1996! CatagoriesPosted Jul-27-06 08:34:19 PDT Why does eBay think "More is Better"??? There are way too many catagories! My main listing catagory is in Toys; Diecast, Toy Vehicles. They have subcatagories for Aircraft, Bikes/Motorcycles, Boats/Ships, Cars&Trucks Cast Iron, Cars&Trucks Die-Cast, Cars&Trucks Plastic, Cars&Trucks Pressed Steel, Cars&Trucks Other Materials, and other vehicles. Why are there so many different catagories.... simple! So eBay can charge sellers for putting an item into BOTH catagories an item fits into!! Say you have a Matchbox Airplane B-52 Flying Fortress.. It could go into Airplanes.. but then where?? There are the catagories Contemporary, Modern, and Vintage. does that mean when it was made?? Or what era it represents?? If you go into Modern, you will find a subcatagory for Matchbox. But what if the buyer was searching under Diecast Cars, Matchbox?? But what if it was made of plastic instead of die-cast?? When it comes to collector die-cast most buyers buy a certain BRAND, not style. There should be only the catagory Toys>Diecast, Toy Cars>Matchbox>Sky Kings to list this under. PERIOD! With the advent of their item specifics, the buyer can search the site for just airplanes! "Similar items from all eBay sellers"Posted Jul-27-06 08:16:42 PDT The next installment of my "Enhancements" blogs.. What the heck is up with this 'similar items crud! eBay is using our own listings against us! True example. I had a video game I wanted to sell.. but felt I had to get $45 for it. Currently is is being sold for $20.. but I just couldn't take that kind of loss so I put it into my storefront. A person decided to buy it. After it was sold, eBay advertised OTHER SELLERS copies of that game on the listing! Luckily this seller is still happy with their purchase since mine was in better condition.. but it is like telling the customer 'HEY STUPID, YOU COULD HAVE BOUGHT IT FOR LESS!!" Not only that.. I AM the one paying for that listing, NOT THE OTHER SELLER!! C'mon eBay.. if you are going to jack up the prices on us, DON'T MAKE US PAY FOR ADVERTISING OTHER SELLERS! |
