Most Recent Posts Scents for Sinus- Therapeutic Grade Essential OilsPosted Jan-03-08 06:00:29 PST Updated Jan-08-08 10:41:45 PST NW Florida has been hit by an Artic Blast. We are not used to 20 degree cold and dry air so this front is causing some serious headaches. Literally!
This morning my diffuser is quietly scenting the air with Eucalyptus Globulus, Orange and Lemon. Ah, sweet relief as I feel the sinus pressure decreasing! Why Eucalyptus? This fragrant leaf has been in popular use in spas for ages because it soothes irritated and swollen nasal membranes. As an added benefit, modern lab studies shows it to be a powerful antimicrobial agent. I add Orange to ease the tension from the sinus pain and the Lemon to brighten my morning. Some variations you might also try with your Eucalyptus are Tangerine or Citrus Fresh. For additional sinus relief, you can increase the humidity in the air with a warm or cool mist humidifier. It is recommended that you do not add Essential oils directly to your humidifier. There are several reasons for this. Essential oils in your humidifier can cause the deterioration of seals and any parts made of plastic. Plus, you can lose the therapeutic benefits of the oils if they are over-heated. |
