Archive - June 2006 Please, pretty please, watch out for FAKE Second Chance Offers!!!Posted Jun-29-06 16:07:18 PDT Updated Jun-29-06 16:19:46 PDT ARGH!!! This is such a nightmare to me. Please be careful about accepting Second Chance Offers... and here's why: ![]() I'll tell you a quick story to clarify how serious this problem is. We got an email a while ago after successfully selling a white Multicolore Eye Love You bag (over $1400). The high bidder paid quickly and had it overnighted to her... all went perfectly with the transaction. A few weeks later I got an email from another person. She asked where her bag was and said she'd "wired" money weeks ago and hadn't heard back from me. I emailed her back and told her I didn't know what she was talking about. She responded that she'd accepted my Second Chance Offer and had wired me the money in full. I had to explain to her that I'd never offered a Second Chance Offer... someone had scammed her- and there was nothing I could to do help out. I'd received 4 of these emails from different transactions... and then we just decided to have a policy of NEVER offering Second Chance Offers- that way, our loyal buyers will never be confused. If you do not win an auction from us that you've been bidding on- and you receive a Second Chance Offer- that looks like it is from FASHIONPHILE through eBay. It is a fake. Forward it to spam@ebay.com. Here is some information from eBay about these Fake Second Chance Offers. Here is a FAKE Second Chance Offer that I was sent: ![]() It looks suprisingly real. Just don't trust them. Don't click any links from your email- go inside your My eBay, to My Messages. A legitimate Second Chance offer will be found there. Good luck! And don't get SCAMMED! Sarah So just how mini ARE the minis???Posted Jun-28-06 08:13:59 PDT Updated Jun-28-06 08:31:26 PDT Louis Vuitton has produced mini versions of a lot of it's favorite pieces... unfortunately, some people who have never seen these items in person, assume that the mini versions are just smaller versons. Well, that's partially true. They aren't just smaller- they're TINY!!! The problem is that I have had two people RETURN items that they have purchased from me, because they didn't realize that minis are REALLY MINI! Like small! So here is a little comparison for you... Here is the mini Montsouris backpack: and here is the mini Montsouris backpack with a can of Tab: and here it is on my petite 6 year old daughter Aerie...
These bags are cute little versions of their big sisters... They are not full size bags! So if you have a lot to lug around, these probably aren't the bags for you. Here are some other minis: Like the Mini Speedy Sac HL:
which they also did in black... ![]() the cute little mini monogram Noelie (notice it has a slider which is one sign of a fake in the larger Noes)
and finally, the mini Noe- ![]() These are really cute little bags- and maybe the perfect one for you! Just a little reminder of how super tiny they are! I'll be back with more! Sarah eBay Live, pictures with Meg or Bill?Posted Jun-20-06 22:11:39 PDT Updated Jun-21-06 09:47:20 PDT Nope. I was just reading JimWarden's blog, and saw his very cool picture of himself with Bill Cobb at eBay Live. We just got back from eBay Live too. Did I get a picture with Bill Cobb? Meg Whitman? Uncle Griff? Nooooo.... eBay Live was in Las Vegas this year and this was the best I could do- ![]() ARGH!!! (Me on the left, ELVIS in the middle (one of about 12 Elvises ((is that the correct plural of Elives?)) that eBay had dancing on a platform at the Gala) and Emily on the right! Sarah Adding a counter...Posted Jun-20-06 17:21:23 PDT Updated Jun-22-06 14:44:25 PDT ![]() Well I've heard from some of you that you are indeed reading my blog- not that I could tell by the number of comments that you're leaving. Don't be shy! I don't bite. I'd love to hear from you- and if you have any myths you'd like me to expose or cool items you'd like me to showcase- let me know! Rumor Buster... #1. "Authentic Louis Vuitton pieces will never have patches on them."Posted Jun-14-06 08:02:43 PDT Along with my favorite item posts, I'm also going to include some "Rumor Busters"... basically, I see miss-information all the time- in guides, and on the boards, and just all around in the search for information on authentic Louis Vuitton! Rumor #1. "Authentic Louis Vuitton pieces will never have patches on them."This is just not true. Some of my favorite vintage pieces had fairly large, smooth oval patches that were used to personalize your bag. An example of such a patch is below. I just love this vintage weekend bag! Like I said in my Comb auction, I personally really love vintage pieces- when they are in new or nearly new condition!!! ![]() Here's another cool vintage piece that has a similar oval patch on it... ![]() Louis Vuitton (to this day) would heat stamp, or emboss gold foil
letters or even use a special paint process to add custom monogram
letters or symbols to any item that you have. Here's that oval patch embossed: ![]() You should see what they can do with trunks and hard luggage! I just love the look of personalized pieces, don't you? My favorite LV auctions... Louis Vuitton Vintage Comb CasePosted Jun-10-06 09:10:59 PDT I like the different stuff... this one was in such fantastic condition. Who'd have thunk? A Louis Vuitton case for your Louis Vuitton comb! I guess if you use a comb and love LV, this is the piece for you! ![]()
Vintage pieces that have been used and abused are no fun, but a nice, different vintage piece in mint condition is fabulous!!! This one is from 1986 and they obviously don't make it anymore... My favorite LV auctions... Louis Vuitton Soccer Ball!Posted Jun-09-06 08:37:39 PDT Updated Jun-09-06 08:38:03 PDT I thought it would be fun for me to post some of my favorite auctions. These may not be items that sold for the most, or that I made the most money on- but just ones that were fun for me to list. I LOVE selling cool vintage (but close to new condition) items, rare and VIP things... so this is the first, and probably my favorite item to date! ![]() What is not to love about this one! An authentic 2002 Louis Vuitton soccer ball! They only made this for one year (although I've seen fakes with different years posted). I sold it with the original vachetta leather case and strap. It went for around $1300 and was a pure joy to list. I mean, look how photogenic she is!!! Louis Vuitton actually partnered with UNICEF and produced a hard back book with pictures of all types of celebrities, dignitaries, political figures and other folks in the spotlight.... who were photographed with the ball- and documented in the book. I've been able to sell the book, entitled "Rebonds" several times, and it's a great coffee table read! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fun, huh??? I particularly like the pic of Gwenyth Paltrow and Ben Affleck in front of the Eiffle Tower! (Even if that didn't work out in the long run!) We're here!!! I guess our slogan is already outdated...Posted Jun-08-06 14:24:28 PDT Updated Jun-08-06 14:32:06 PDT ![]() Yep, we're here. We finally arrived on Monday afternoon, and I forgot how much work it is to move. It's tough being homeless with kids and a business to run! Anyway, so of course, it's like a different world in Beverly Hills. I am really used to San Antonio... which is really laid back and southern etc. We've LOVED it there, and highly suggest it to anyone who's looking for a new place to settle! So, I remembered reading an article about a couple boys who chase exotic cars around the LA area to get pictures to add to their website www.Car-Parazzi.com. I had just walked past Hermes and Chanel to get to Louis Vuitton, and had seen a Cerises Lizard Neo Deauville, a Fringe Speedy and two two Birkens in passing... and I thought... so if car-parazzi is a guy thing, maybe PurseParazzi is my thing! The only problem is, I can't think of a sum of money large enough to get me to take pictures of some of complete strangers carrying these really cool bags I'm spotting. I guess a car is a little less personal. But bag watching-it's a fun sport! Sarah I only started blogging yesterday, and look at me... it's 4:11 am, and I'm up writing!Posted Jun-08-06 04:27:13 PDT ![]() Cool! I guess, I just figured out how to add a picture! Well, partly it's my enthusiasm for this new blogging thing that has me up- and partly, my 7 month old Zoie! I thought they were supposed to be sleeping through the night by now? Apparently, no one informed her of this. She's looking mighty cute right now- by the light of my laptop, and mighty awake. I guess it's a Catch 22... cause I'm bored, so I want to do something when she wakes up (check auctions, check email, do a little shopping, and now- add to my new blog!!!), BUT... the glare of the laptop can't help her want to fall asleep! Ah, the dilema... Our first official blog entry... sniff, sniffPosted Jun-07-06 20:22:21 PDT Well, whenever eBay rolls out a new program or feature, I always like to give it a try! So, here I am... penning my first official blog! I think this is going to be a lot of fun. My name is Sarah Davis... and I started selling on eBay almost 8 years ago. (Is it that long already!??? WOW, as they say- time flies when you're having fun!) I started selling about the time that I started law school at the University of Maryland School of Law. About that time, I also had my first daughter... so let's just say, I had a lot on my plate! I immediately took to eBay and never looked back! Even after graduating from law school AND passing the Texas Bar, I found that selling on eBay was a better fit for me in this stage of my life. I love what I do! This blog is going to be all about Louis Vuitton, and eBay and a bit, I guess about what's going on in my life, and how THAT relates to Louis Vuitton and eBay! I mean, it all does! I'll sit down at Chili's with friends and family, and they'll say to me, "OK, let's see how long we can go without talking about purses or eBay." And we'll last a good half hour or so, but they they'll bring it up... they want to know! It's funny, cause they're all in jobs and positions that are supposed to be interesting (the ones that people write TV shows about) but they're all wanting me to tell the one about the buyer who asked to do a local pickup, and then met me at a local restaurant with a personal check in her hands... and about how I had to explain to her that she looked like a very trustworthy person, etc. etc. but I just wasn't going to hand over my $1400 bag without cash in hand... and about how she had to go to ATM after ATM and then borrow the rest, cause she HAD to have it that night! (Or any other of my fun little eBay/LV stories!!!) Anyway... My sister and brother in law, Emily and Ben Hemminger- are my business partners. I'll bet Ben NEVER posts here, but if Emily does... I'll have her post her comments and entries in italics, so you know who's talking! Got to go unpack some boxes... I'll post more later about our new, exciting MOVE!!! Sarah |
