WHAT WILL THE NEW YEAR BRING...
Well folks, I really want to wish you all the best for the upcoming New Year!! I am taking today to look at the past, think about the things I have done, the things I have not gotten to, and the changes I may need to make , to get those things accomplished.
One of the things I need in my life is a schedule. Not a hard, fast, firm gotta do it now schedule, but an outline of the things I need to give my attention to on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. I think this will enable me to more quickly reach my goals.
Number One Priority on that schedule will be making time for family and friends.
I think the next goal for me will be self improvement. (NOPE, not going to suddenly start excersing!! I am a happy short lil ol fat guy so will leave that to others.) I want to improve first my thinking process, keeping it in line with my core values, when situations occur that could sidetrack me. I want to improve the way I interact with others, including family, friends and customers.
I need to spend more time reading the motivational thoughts of others and less spewing of my own thoughts. (hmm, maybe my own thoughts will be refined by learning from others.)
I will be improving my auctions, exploring and learning from others who have been and are still successful on Ebay. Many of you will be called upon to be my mentor, and I will certainly return the favor when I can.
While midnight is only going from one day to another, New Years can be special if we stop and reflect and look forward with a new vision of what we want for our future. I am looking forward to walking that path with you.

Posted Dec-26-06 19:38:00 PST I RESEARCHED IT TO DEATH...
In a recent email to a friend, I admitted that I had been to busy to write any articles because of doing research for some decisions I need to make.
I have been:
Researching on the internet.
Listening to audio on internet selling.
Listening to others on promoting
Listening to audio about establishing an online business.
I have been reading ebooks.
I have been exchanging emails with a few internet marketers that have it figured out and are making a living on the internet.
I have been discussing options with my wife, including going back to driving semi.
I have pondered.
I have meditated.
I have prayed.
I have sweated over the issues facing me.
I have been so busy trying to figure out where I am headed that I finally realized I am going nowhere real fast. I now know what needs to be done. It took a hit on the mental lobes to get me to this point, but I now understand one thing:
When planning, research, and analyzing gets in the way of doing, something needs to change. Like maybe setting a time for a DECISION based on what has been learned so far!
Decision time is set: 12:01 PM CST Wednesday December 27, 2006 I will finalize my quest for the right answer and make a decision. Will it be a correct one? Who the heck can ever answer that without giving it a try.
And try I will....

Notice: Anyone second guessing my decision or trying to influence it in any way shape or form will result in you sitting on my NEXT RESEARCH COMMITTEE!!

SOMETHINGS JUST GOTTA GO...
My wife she says: "Its gotta go." All my lovely things.
I'll grump and grouse and start a sale to see what it will bring.
She doesn't understand my need, to live amongst this junk.
Explaining needs she says to me: "That's all a lot of bunk."
I'm writting ads and crying tears, I know you understand.
I'm selling all my memories, here on Ebay Land.
Now what to sell and what to keep, the decisions I will make.
So get your bidding finger out and all my items take.
And while I grieve for my lost things, I'll pack them in a box,
Then set them on the shipping cart, a pile of cardboard blocks.
I'll hand them to the Postal Guy, he'll send them on their way,
I spent the extra just for you, you'll get them in three days.
She checks upon my little space, more items she does see,
And says: "You keep listing if, at home you want to be."
I'm listing my last item, she doesn't cook or clean.
No gaurantees, no money back, she's now your evil queen.
I'll bid and buy, collect more junk, and fill my little room,
While you sit back and watch her fly, her fancy vacumn broom.

Posted Dec-25-06 05:35:03 PST When your feeling down and out, the world is looking bleak,
Take a monent in a prayer, your God it's time to seek.
When the world has coughed up all, the preasure it can give,
You need to seek another course, It's time for God to live.
When your boss, your spouse, your kids, have run you in the ground,
Stop and listen really close, for God's truely healing sound.
When it all just seems a waste, the efforts we put in,
Think of God's one loving choice, to save us from our sins.
When you come to realize, this Sacred Sacrifice,
Has given more to human kind, His love our needs suffice.
When now upon your bended knees, give thanks for Loving Grace,
You find your life is really good, when His love you embrace.
When you now have realized, our simple little fears,
Are simply just the little tests, so dry away the tears.
When they dry, you can rejoice, His Birthday now observe,
And take in all the blessings given, the ones we don't deserve.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY ONLINE FRIENDS!!

I often sit and read questions from sellers and from bidders that I simply can't understand the thinking behind the question. Some examples below:
Questions from Sellers
1. How do I block bidders with less than (you insert number) feedbacks? (how many feedbacks did you start with on Ebay? Who in their right mind let you bid on your first item?) 2. Where do you get your products to sell? (oh yea, I want you as competition) 3. This transaction ended yesterday and I haven't heard from the bidder. What should I do? (Hey, not everyone lives 24/7 on their computer.) 4. It has been 5 days and I haven't received payment. Should I leave them Negative feedback? (You should have left them negative feedback before the bidding ended.) 5. How do I cancel someone's bid (auction # you insert number here) who has a negative feedback? (Well I looked at the auction and feedback of the person in question and they have 3046 positive feedbacks, why don't you give them a break?) 6.Bidder wants to pay me through Western Union and is giving me 600.00 extra to send with the package as a present, should I do this? (Well only if you intend on gifting the money to this bidder.) 7. Bidder wants me to end the auction (which is now at .99 and sell the item to him for 500.00, should I do it?(Yea and make sure you don't do a special listing on Ebay for this transaction because selling outside of Ebay is much safer.) 8. Bidder's feedback was positive, but was less than wonderful, should I give them a negative feedback? ( I am sure you interpreted the message right so give them a neg and block them from future transactions. You don't need return customers on Eay.) 9. Customer ask for extra careful wrapping on this glass item and what it would cost for Priority shipping. I HATE special requests from these idiots. Do I go ahead and bow down to their request? (Naww, wrap the glass in newspaper and stick a stamp on it. Don't even respond to silly requests from customers, you don't want them back bothering you again anyway.)
Questions from Bidders..
1. Seller wants to be paid in cash, should I send cash in the mail? 2. Seller has a feedback rating of -3, but has a 500.00 item I really want, should I bid on it? 3. How do I cancel my bid? I bid on 10 items all alike and won 6 of them, but I only need one. I want to keep the cheapest one. (Aww, just tell the seller you changed your mind, they don't care that you cost them money and time.) 4. I had the highest bid on an item and it has been 3 hours and still no invoice, what should I do? (Just give the seller a negative and go bid on another item.) 5. I won an item and the shipping seems too high, can I get out of this transaction?(Did you read the description? If so and there was no shipping charges mentioned you should get free shipping. No point in asking questions before you bid.) 6. I bid on a Harley Davidson Motorcycle 4588.00 and sent payment through Western Union. I have never heard from the seller again. What should I do? (Well first of all, don't ever read Ebay's tutorials on Safe Buying Practices.)
No wonder some people fear shopping online. The run into sellers who have the personality of a skunk in heat. They don't educate themselves and believe that all will be ok. They let greed come before common sense.
We as sellers have a responsibility to help educate, help walk new people through the process of bidding, paying and ending a transaction successfully. To do that, we need to first educate ourselves. We then need to decide how to go about our mission of dealing with customers.
My personal mission statement: "I sell service!! The products I have listed for bidding or Buy It Now are simply the means by which I can sell that service."
Copywrite 2006 Toby Edmondson Of course some of the comments above to questions were tounge and cheek... or were they just my smart mouth getting away from me?
Posted Dec-22-06 19:52:36 PST Men are from HOME DEPOT / Women are from Bed Bath and Beyond...
Who is your target customer? How does your sales ad reflect who you are selling to?
You have probably at least heard of the book: "MEN ARE FROM MARS, WOMEN ARE FROM VENUS". This book deals on relationships and how to improve them. Isn't that what we are doing when trying to sell to either gender, starting a relationship?
Starting a business relationship is not so different than starting a personal one. We must think about our presentation depending on who we are looking at to buy our product.
It doesn't matter what the product, it can be sold to either a man or a woman. You have to think like the salesman who sells refrigerators to Eskimos or combs to bald headed men.
Let's say were selling a Teddy Bear and we want a MAN to bid on it. Our description could read something like this: "Teddy Bear. Brown. 16" Tall 7" wide 2 lbs 1 oz. Made of DURABLE material. You will make points with the wife if this is a gift for her!!"
Ok, lets sell this Teddy Bear to a woman. "CUTE TEDDY BEAR!, CUDDLY!!, SOFT!!, HUGGABLE!!, Pretty shade of brown and just the right size to be your BABY'S first friend." Please Adopt me into your family."
The two ads describe the same Teddy Bear, but one ad is simply hey here it is, get it for your wife and be a HERO. The second ad draws upon what women understand. Emotion! Buy me because I am soft and huggable and will be your babies first friend.
Women would never buy from the first ad, it is too factual, too devoid of anything meaningful to them. On the other hand, Men would never see a Teddy Bear huggable, soft or needing to be adopted as anything more than a "Bear Skin Rug" in front of the fireplace. A man certainly wouldn't see it as a friend for anyone, even if their first friend was a teddy bear, they won't admit it even to themselves now.

WE SEE HIM DIFFERNTLYWriting ads to target who you think will be reading them is a key to successful sales. Now go use that key to open the heart and purse of a woman or the Hero mindset of a man to open his wallet. Do it in 2007 and you will have some great success in your Ebay business.

Don't you hate it when you are in a discussion and someone says: "If you ever had this situation you would see it a different way."?
Why do we assume the person who is talking has no experience in the area we are speaking about. Maybe they are so passionate about the subject because they can see it from both sides and have made life decisions based on those experiences.
Let's give each other a little break. It could be we are not understanding the other person's motivation for even adding to the conversation. Never make your remarks personal. We can easily talk in generalities and even then some will think they are being attacked.
After writing one of my blogs or in the past when I published a daily Internet Column, I received emails from people who thought I was talking about them personally. I even had one day where about 10% of my subscription list cancelled their subscription, all because they felt I was attacking them personally. This is never (hardly ever) the case. I am usually talking about ME and confirming in my mind how I want to act and reaffirming that it is the correct way.
If you find yourself, (as I have) getting to emotionally involved in a conversation, be very careful to keep it on subject and not personal.
We can all remain friends that way and life it too short to throw friendships away over disagreements on the little things in life.

Drawing on the warmth, of accomplishments I see.

I bask in warmth of your success, I really am sincere.
I see you doing things, I only could have dreamed.
Were never really posible, or that's the way it seemed.
You've given me the courage, to start my little fire,
So we can reach for all the things, we really do desire.
Together we can do it, you've paved for me a road,
The motivation comes, you've lightened up my load.
Let's build our fires together, our light for all to see.
A blazing fire of success, built by you and me.

WHEN IT'S TIME TO TAKE BACK OUR LIFE...
There are times in life when we simply have to do things we reallly don't want to do. It's a simple fact of life. It is a give and take situation where there must be a balance between what our wants and needs are vs the wants and needs of others.
We can always acquiesce to the demands and wishes of others or we can come to some sort of compromise and take back some of our life. It is our life!!
Some people are willing to play the old "Pity Party Game" and do everything everyone asks and feel put upon all the time. Other people are only willing to do and demand from others what meets their needs. There simply has to be a balance.
Holidays seem to bring about these situations (at least on a higher level of awareness) than any other times of the year. If you want or need to take back your life, this is the place to start.
How we handle making changes, asking for compromise from others, is the key to taking back one's life. We obviously can not play the Pity Party Game and bend to everyone elses needs. We don't want to be the other side of that coin and demand our needs be met either. We need to take a strong stand, present our needs and along with that present the compromise. Maybe it is Dinner at our house this year, dinner at another families house the following.
You might even go so far as to say We have made other plans for this year, but hope everyone will join us next year. Go do some charity work at a shelter with the family and then have a quiet holiday with just your family the first year. Heck, ask the "Demanding People" to join you. (Know that they are not the kind of people who would do the charity work so you are safe.)
However you decide to make these compromises, you will find empowerment and slowly begin to take your life back.

Using the thoughts presented here to take back your life will result in more time to invite me for dinner. I eat anything excetpt canned peas. lol

In the days of Slavery in the United States, what was the one thing it was illegal to do with a slave?
In countries that hold women in low esteme, what is the one thing they discourage?
KNOWLEDGE!!
In the days of slavery in the U.S. it was illegal to teach your slaves to read and write. Why? Because knowledge is POWER!!
Why are some people on Ebay Power Sellers and others are struggling to find their niche? KNOWLEDGE!!
You can gain this knowledge through ebooks, through reading all of Ebay's tutorials and video information or you can just go through the "SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS". One path is quick and fairly easy, one path is a struggle and often times by the time we have graduated from the "school of Hard Knocks" our information is old and no longer relavant.
Read what others have to say. Learn from those who have the knowledge. Then double check that information to make sure it is correct!
When you have gained the knowledge you need, Selling on Ebay, or any other task you set your mind to will become much easier and the path to success may open in front of you.

She came on to me gently. An internet relationship had begun. I will admit that I tried to initiate it with some written words of my own, but it was she who finally broke down and contacted me.
Yes, it was meant to be. We were destined to come together in this relationship. It was as if I had what she needed. That is why she sought me out.
At first it was a tenative offer, hoping I would respond. I was excited beyond measure, but took a few moments to catch my breath and think what this offer could mean.
Finally, with great enthusiasm, I accepted her offer and we began our relationship together. The first time was wonderful, the second even better. I am looking forward to a life time committment from her. In the mean time I will accept the occasional visit and pray they will continue.
This was my first time. I will remember it when I am old and gray. She knew what she was doing and seduced me into taking her BEST OFFER and when I accepted... life was wonderful.
I would love to see you make a BEST OFFER TOO so we can join together in an Ebay Relationship beyond the scope of blogging.

Posted Dec-10-06 18:11:03 PST Christmas time is certainly a time for sharing, giving to others, helping when and how we can. I see so many pleas. Little boy needs presents. Family homeless. Not enough money for gift giving. Need more sales or there will be no Christmas.
I like most people give beyond my means. We sponsor two families locally every year, buying presents for the kids and gift certificates for the adults. We spend less than $5 for our own family each year so we can do this.
We are so far in debt that (and no this is NOT a plea for help) we are going to have to make some life decisions that won't be very easy. I am not complaining. I have been rich, I have been poor and then rich again. Life seems to go in circles. I am just sharing this because MANY people are in the same boat as me.
We want to help everyone. We greive when we can't. We shouldn't ever feel guilty when we simply can't. By the same token, no one should try to make us feel guilty. No one but US knows the situation we are in, so no one else can judge us. GOD will be the judge of whether we took care of HIS other children as best we could.
JMO and I have lots of those...
You don't need to respond to this post as I am probably going to delete it later anyway.
Toby Edmondson Posted Dec-10-06 17:41:14 PST Well today was spent walking a path of endeavor that will either take me where I intended to go, or leave me wondering why I didn't just blog, chat and play poker online.
The day was spent lowering the prices I could, putting up about 40 more listings with free shipping and editing auctions people are telling me have mistakes. (I guess I should have taken more breaks and gotten more rest for this task.)
I currently have 1 bid on 13 auctions. I have 195 Fixed Price listings with a total of 358 items for sale, and I have just barely made a dent in what I need to get listed.
I will trudge forward believing that my efforts will be rewarded if not by sales, then at least knowing I gave it my best effort.
There are no gaurentees in life except for Death and Taxes, but there is always the matter of faith that if one does the best they can, everything will turn out as God intended.
Hope you are all walking a path to success.

It comes with out warning, a time stealing theif.

Don't spend time shouting, or arguing issues,
Or waste even more while crying in tissues.
Don't let a time thieving remark blow out you're light,
