Archive - June 2007 The Drama Continues... (from last post)Posted Jun-23-07 19:31:02 PDT Well I called the boss. He gave me a load that leaves for Florida tomorrow. PUNISHMENT = 4 drops instead of one so I won't get reloaded same day and not get home for next weekend. Boss did not call it a punishment, but I know one when it happens... Oh well, maybe get to see some alligators or something else interesting in Florida. See you all when I return.... TOBY'S HOME TODAY BECAUSE....Posted Jun-23-07 15:44:34 PDT I loaded yesterday for Monday delivery in Florida. Boss wanted me to come straight home to get my truck serviced on my way through. I was 15 minutes late and he was GONE when I arrived. I called him on the cell phone and he told me to go home and call him in the morning. I told him I needed to keep moving or I would not make it in time. He said another driver was going to take my load and that he couldn't sit and wait for me to arrive to service my truck. I didn't call him today. I should have, but am pissed off. as I was only about 30 minutes late. Ok, so I was late, but his rude response just has gotten to me. It wasn't like I took a 10 hour break before coming to the terminal. Ok, Ok, I KNOW I am in the wrong here. He expected me at a certain time and I chose to stop for a short break. It was MY choice and I should suffer the consequences. I just KNOW I am going to pay for this BIG TIME. Guess maybe I should get off the net and give him a call... but am dreading it now. Ok, enough crying in my "coffee" (ok, beer)... Maybe share with you the results of my call... (If I get the courage to make it... another beer first I am thinking, lol) A PRIVATE PLACE (Yea Toby's Back) ... well today anyway.Posted Jun-23-07 14:51:26 PDT A Private Place Sometimes when I stop for coffee at a truck stop a driver will walk up to me as I get out of my truck and tell me they had been shouting at me on the CB radio and wanted to let me know it is not working. I thank them and tell them it probably was not on. We sometimes end up having coffee together and the conversation goes to such things as music and other ways to entertain one's self while spending many hours sitting alone driving down the highway. They seem genuinely surprised when I tell them I enjoy the quiet solitude and time for personal thought this gives me. The general consensus seems to be that outside stimulus is needed to entertain and keep them awake. For those who seem interested I explain how being able to be happy with one's solitude gives them the ability to completely control their own happiness. No one else's attitude can affect your day if you are internally content with yourself. The trials and tribulations of the world around you can only affect you if you feel rocked and bashed about by that outside stimulus. I ask them to think back to the last time they became involved on the CB radio in a heated dispute that really had nothing to do with them personally, just because they felt they had something that needed to be added to the conversation. Was the way they felt afterwards worth getting involved? Did anyone else really care about their two cents worth anyway? If we are willing to sit back, listen, learn, and hold our tongue for times we know it will make a difference we will find that our non-involvement will help keep us from feeling buffeted by the storm clouds that are really not ours to stand under. True meaningful life happens from within. Becoming able to live inside yourself will better enable you to help others when the opportunity to do so is really present. It will also help you learn when that opportunity is really present to help someone keep on the path. Toby Edmondson Copyright © 2007 Motivational Graffiti All Rights Reserved FREEDOM OF SPEACH ???Posted Jun-16-07 20:28:16 PDT I often see arguments for freedom of speach. It is gauranteed by our Constitution in the United States. Who, why, and how did this become one of our uninalieanable rights? The Constitution was written by men with Christian backgrounds, from a Christian perspective. Did they really mean that "all" speach, (Hate speach, Personal Attacks on others, etc.) to be a protected right? The facts are that those kinds of speach are protected because of liberal interpretation. But as a Christian we need to look at consequences of our speach. How will what we say affect others. All freedoms come with certain responsibilities. Let's be responsible in all we do, including our spoken and written word. By following Christian Principles in our actions we will make our communities (including blogs, chat rooms and our personal places of residence) a more pleasant place for all. JMO and I have lots of those.... Toby FOR ONCE THE BLONDE GETS EVEN...Posted Jun-15-07 18:46:54 PDT I went into a truck stop cafe and placed my order. I said, "I want three flat tires, a pair of headlights and a pair of running boards." The brand new blonde waitress, not wanting to appear stupid, went to the kitchen and said to the cook, "This guy out there just ordered three flat tires, a pair of headlights and a pair of running boards. What does he think this place is...an auto parts store?" "No," the cook said. "Three flat tires mean three pancakes, a pair of headlights is two eggs sunny side up, and running boards are two slices of crisp bacon." "Oh, OK!" said the blonde. She thought about it for a moment and then spooned up a bowl of beans and gave it to me. I asked, "What are the beans for Blondie? She replied, "I thought while you were waiting for the flat tires, headlights and running boards, you might as well gas up! I now don't believe she was a true blonde, lol. Home from CaliforniaPosted Jun-15-07 10:28:44 PDT Hi Gang, I just returned from California and will leave for Texas on Monday morning. Hightlight of my trip was meeting with an Ebay Cafe Friend and Her Family. Lita, husband and three of her children met me for lunch and we had a wonderful two hours talking, sharing our lives and experiences. I had planned on meeting another person on this trip but my schedule and routing did not allow for this to happen,,, hopefully next time that direction. I have been invited to join another friend from Georgia for the 4th of July to a BBQ and have talked with my boss about trying to schedule me that direction. We will see what happens... Always looking for a chance to meet my online friends. Well, have grass to mow and my log book to catch up so better go, just wanted to update all on my travels... look forward to hearing from you all. Toby "I am not ignorant!!
