I got involved thru my father who restored a handful of classic trucks in his day and started a collection of vintage auto literature. He made the rounds to swap meets and car shows buying and selling. He made the trip to Hershey for 6 or 7 years.
I had just started selling Chevrolets for a living and always saved him the current brochures especially for Corvette and Camaro.
When he passed away, I was not interested in his whole collection just in the Chevrolet stuff. I later regretted that decision. His Chevrolet collection sat stashed away for a number of years.
I began posting the collection on Ebay a little at a time. The excitement of some of the auctions became addictive. My father's collection was going one or two pieces at a time all over the world - to Canada, Europe, Japan, Australia as well as literally all 50 states.
I now buy and sell brochures, mostly online, mostly thru Ebay although I have picked up a few deals thru my other contacts. I have not been able to turn it into the type of supplemental income that I might have hoped but I am still very much "into it" and still hope that I can develop it into a full fledge business someday.
